My Experience with BloodMoney game

My grandson mentioned this game to me last Christmas, saying I might like the strategy part. I downloaded it on my Google Pixel 7, mostly to have something to talk to him about. I’ve been poking at it for over a year now, usually with my morning coffee. The idea is you run a little criminal outfit, and you have to be smart about spending your money and hiring crew members. I got hooked one rainy Tuesday when I finally saved up enough to buy a better safehouse. It felt like a real accomplishment. The game doesn’t hold your hand too much, which I like, but sometimes it leaves you guessing. For a free app, it’s kept me interested far longer than I expected.

Features Worth Noting

The best part is joining a crew, which is just a fancy word for a team. I found a nice group of players who don’t take things too seriously. We help each other out on big jobs, and sending a message to coordinate an attack is simple. The art style is dark and comic-like, which gives it a unique look I enjoy. I also like that you can customize your character’s clothes. I have my guy in a very sharp, if slightly ridiculous, purple pinstripe suit. It’s a small thing, but it makes it feel more personal. The monthly updates usually add a new set of goals or decorations, which is a nice way to keep things from getting stale.

What Needs Work

The screen can get terribly cluttered. Just when I’m trying to figure out my next move, three different pop-ups appear for special events or sales, and I can’t find the ‘X’ to close them. It’s frustrating. The other big issue is the energy system. You can only do so many actions before you run out of this “energy” and have to wait for it to refill. Last Sunday, I was in the middle of planning a takeover of a rival’s casino, and everything just stopped. I either had to wait four hours or watch an advertisement. It completely ruins your flow and feels like the game is nagging you.

Pricing

I haven’t spent a single penny on this game, and you don’t have to either. Everything you need is there for free if you’re patient. But the game is always, and I mean always, suggesting you buy the special currency called BloodMoney to speed things up. There’s a season pass and constant deals flashing on the screen. It’s a bit much. For someone like me who just plays for fun, it’s easy to ignore. But I can see how it would pressure younger folks. You get a lot of game for no money, but they sure make you aware of what you’re missing.

Developer Notes

The developer is ArtGamesLP. I’ve never had to contact them myself, thank goodness, because the app has worked fine on my phone. Looking at other reviews in the app store, it seems like some people have had mixed experiences with support. Some say they got help, others say they didn’t. They do put out updates regularly, which is a good sign they haven’t abandoned the game. The 3.8-star rating feels about right to me. It’s not a perfect five-star masterpiece, but it’s a solid, free game that has more going on than you’d think at first glance.

Security & Privacy

This is always in the back of my mind. The game asks for pretty standard permissions, like network access to play. I didn’t see anything that screamed alarm bells. I use a nickname in the game, not my real name, and I’m careful not to share any personal info in the crew chats. The privacy policy is one of those long documents you have to agree to, and I’ll be honest, I just skimmed it. It seems like most other free games. I haven’t noticed any strange behavior on my phone or odd charges, so I feel okay about it for casual play.

Frequently asked questions
How do crews work in BloodMoney, and can I communicate with my team?

Crews are just teams you can join to collaborate on big jobs. You can easily send messages to coordinate attacks, and the community tends to be friendly and laid-back.

Can I customize my character's appearance in BloodMoney?

Yes, you can customize your character's clothes, like putting them in a sharp purple pinstripe suit. It's a small personal touch that makes the game feel more unique to you.

Why does the screen get so cluttered with pop-ups, and how can I fix it?

The game tends to bombard you with pop-ups for events and sales, and the close button can be hard to find. There's no in-game fix, but you can try tapping around the edges of the pop-up or restarting the app to clear them temporarily.

What can I do about the energy system stopping my progress mid-mission?

When you run out of energy, you either have to wait several hours or watch an advertisement to continue. To avoid frustration, plan your play sessions around your energy gauge or save big actions for when you have a full bar.

How does BloodMoney compare to other strategy games like The Godfather: Family Business?

BloodMoney is more casual and free-to-play friendly, with a comic-style art and a relaxed crew system, whereas The Godfather: Family Business has deeper mafia simulation but more aggressive monetization. BloodMoney is better if you want a slower, less stressful experience.
