My Experience with Ulala: Idle Adventure

I picked this up last Tuesday night because my last idle RPG turned into a total cash grab where you couldn’t even beat the second boss without dropping real money. I’ve been testing it on my Samsung Galaxy A54 for three days now, playing maybe 20 minutes each evening after work and checking it a few times during lunch. The whole caveman cartoon thing isn’t really my style honestly, but the gameplay surprised me. You pick a class like Warrior or Hunter, then your character just keeps fighting even when you close the app. I woke up Wednesday morning and my little guy had leveled up twice and collected a bunch of gear without me touching anything. That felt good. What got me hooked was the team aspect though. You join a four-person party and everyone’s characters fight together in real time, even if you’re all offline. I got matched with three randoms named Max, Luna, and BigDave42. We crushed a giant turtle boss on Thursday night and it actually felt cooperative, not competitive. The graphics are bright and colorful on my A54, no lag or crashing so far. Battery drain is reasonable too, maybe 15% for an hour of active play.

Features Worth Noting

First off, the idle system actually works well enough that I don’t feel punished for having a life. You set your skills and gear, then the game auto-fights for you. But you can also jump in and manually tap to use special abilities during tough boss fights, which is a nice middle ground. There’s four classes: Warrior, Hunter, Mage, and Assassin. I picked Hunter because I like ranged attacks. Each has a different role in the party so you need a balanced team. The customization is solid too. You can swap weapons, helmets, chest armor, gloves, boots, accessories, and skill stones. My Hunter currently has a bone bow with a fire damage bonus I found from a rare monster drop. The tribe system lets you join a group of up to 25 players. I joined one called CavemanClub and they have a chat room where people actually coordinate for the tribe war event. I’ve only done one tribe war so far, we won but it was close. You also get daily login rewards and event quests that give free currency, which I always appreciate as someone who refuses to pay until I’m sure it’s worth it.

What Needs Work

Okay, the matchmaking for the party system is rough. When I first started, it kept putting me in parties where two people were inactive for days. That meant I couldn’t progress past certain bosses because the game requires a full four-person team to do the main story chapters. I spent like an hour on Wednesday switching parties until I found one where all four members were active. The game should really kick inactive players after 48 hours or something. Also, the idle gains feel slow once you hit around level 15. On the second day I logged in after eight hours of work and only got one level and some gray junk gear. That’s a bit disappointing when you’re trying to test if the free path is viable. And the tutorial drags on way too long. I swear it took 15 minutes of forced clicking before they let me actually play. On a Galaxy A54 the loading screens between menus take about 5-7 seconds each, which adds up when you’re checking multiple things.

Pricing

This is the big one for me. The game is free to download with no upfront cost. There’s a premium battle pass for $9.99 a month that gives extra rewards, exclusive skins, and faster idle gains. There are also various starter packs from $1.99 to $49.99 and a monthly subscription for $4.99 that gives daily gems. I haven’t spent a dime yet because I wanted to see how far free play gets you. After three days I’m at level 17 with decent gear and I’ve beaten the first three continent bosses. But I can already see the paywall starting to creep in. The daily energy system limits how many active battles you can do, and you can run out in about 10 minutes of play. The idle gains are obviously slower without the battle pass. I’m going to give it two more weeks before deciding if the $9.99 pass is worth it. The prices are pretty standard for mobile games, nothing outrageous like some games asking $99 for a character.

Developer Notes

X.D. Global seems to update the game regularly. Since I downloaded it three days ago there’s already been a small patch that fixed a crash on some devices. The app store says the last update was five days ago. They seem active on their official Discord server and the in-game mail system sends updates about upcoming events. There’s a season system where every few weeks new content drops like bosses and gear sets. I like that they communicate what’s coming. The only thing that worries me is reading recent reviews mentioning that older events and gear become unavailable forever once they end, so you can miss out if you join late. That’s kind of punishing for new free players.

Security & Privacy

The app asks for storage permission to save game data locally, which makes sense for an offline-progression idle game. It also asks for internet access obviously since it’s online multiplayer. I didn’t see any weird permissions like camera or microphone requests. The privacy policy on their website says they collect device info, gameplay data, and basic analytics for improving the game. They also mention they share data with third-party ad networks for the optional video ads you can watch to get extra rewards. I’ve watched maybe 10 of those ads for free currency and they’re standard 30-second mobile game ads, nothing sketchy. I didn’t have to create an account with my email or phone number, I just logged in with a random username and password. So there’s minimal personal info tied to my profile as long as you don’t buy anything and enter payment details.

Frequently asked questions
How does the idle system work in Ulala: Idle Adventure?

Your character automatically fights and collects gear even when you close the app, so you can progress without constant play. You can also jump in manually during tough boss fights to tap special abilities for a nice middle ground between idle and active play.

What classes are available and how do they affect party play?

There are four classes: Warrior, Hunter, Mage, and Assassin, each with a different role in the party. You need a balanced team of four to progress through main story chapters, and all characters fight together in real time even when offline.

Why can't I progress past certain bosses in the main story?

The game requires a full four-person party to do main story chapters, and matchmaking may put you with inactive players. If you're stuck, try switching parties until you find one where all members are active, as the game doesn't automatically kick inactive players after 48 hours.

Why do my idle gains feel slow after reaching level 15?

After level 15, idle gains slow down significantly—you might only get one level and low-quality gear after eight hours offline. To speed up progress, focus on completing event quests and daily login rewards for free currency, and manually participate in boss fights for better drops.

How does Ulala: Idle Adventure compare to other idle RPGs that require real money to progress?

Unlike many idle RPGs that become cash grabs early on, Ulala lets you progress without paying—you can beat bosses and earn gear through idle play and team coordination. The game offers free currency through daily rewards and events, and the cooperative party system makes it feel fair rather than pay-to-win.
