That’s honestly enough for me. I don’t pay for anything and I’m not missing out on the core experience. If you’re already paying for Xbox Live Gold or Game Pass, this app becomes way more useful, but I’m here for the free stuff. My only worry is that Microsoft might lock more behind a paywall someday. For now, what you get for zero dollars is pretty solid.

I granted notifications and microphone because voice chat with friends is the whole point, but I turned off location tracking because my dorm room doesn’t need to be pinpointed. The privacy policy is long and boring, and I didn’t read all of it, but I know they use your data for ads and improving services. For a free app from Microsoft, that’s standard. I’m not thrilled about it, but I’m not losing sleep either. If you’re super privacy-conscious, you might not love it. For me, it’s an okay trade-off for the convenience.
