About Vogue
I downloaded this app on my OnePlus phone because I kept having the same silly problem every Tuesday morning. That’s my day for coffee with my friend Margaret, and I always feel like my outfits are stuck in a rut. I thought, maybe the famous Vogue magazine could give me some simple, modern ideas without me having to buy the heavy print version. I just wanted clear pictures and straightforward advice from a name I trust. The app is free, which was a big point in its favor for me.
Core Features
When you open it, it’s mostly pictures, which is nice. Big photos of clothes and models. There’s a section called “Runway” which is just show after show of outfits. To be honest, it’s a bit overwhelming. I tapped on something called “Paris” and it was just a waterfall of very dramatic clothes I would never wear. I did find a “Save” button, which I used once on an article about comfortable shoes. I thought that was clever, so I could find it again later. They also ask what you like when you start, but I’m not sure it listened. I said I liked “classic” styles, but I still see a lot of very young, flashy things.
Real-World Use
My real test was yesterday morning, before meeting Margaret. I opened the app with my coffee, looking for one good idea. I found a gallery titled “5 Easy Summer Updates.” Perfect! I started scrolling through. The pictures were beautiful and loaded fast. I saw a lovely linen shirt. I tapped on it to read more, but my phone buzzed with a text from my grandson. When I went back to the Vogue app, it had completely started over. I was back at the main screen and had to search all over again to find that article. I never did find that linen shirt. It was frustrating and wasted my time.
Pricing & Value
You can’t argue with free. I didn’t pay a cent for it, and for that price, you get access to all these professional photos and articles. That’s the good part. The not-so-good part is the ads. They pop up as little banners at the bottom, and sometimes a full video ad will play when you move from one part of the app to another. It’s not constant, but it’s distracting. For a free app, I suppose you have to expect it. I just wish the experience inside was smoother to make up for the interruptions.
Updates & Support
This is where I got really disappointed. On the second day, the app kept freezing on a particular article. The screen just wouldn’t move. I looked everywhere for a “Help” button. It was hidden away in a menu called “Legal” which I never would have thought to check. I sent an email describing my problem. Two days later, I got a reply that said, “Thank you for your message. We appreciate your feedback.” That was it. No “we’re looking into it,” no suggestion to fix it. I felt completely brushed off. If you have a problem, you’re on your own.
Data & Privacy
The app asks for permission to send you notifications right away. I said no, because I get enough alerts as it is. It also has a very long privacy policy that I, like most people, just scrolled past and agreed to. It makes me wonder what they’re collecting. They know what articles I click on and what I save, that’s for sure. I just hope it’s not being shared all over the place. For an app that’s mostly about looking at pictures, it seems to want to know a lot about me.
How does the 'Save' button work in the Vogue app?
The Save button lets you bookmark articles or photo galleries you like so you can find them later. For example, you can save a story about comfortable shoes and easily access it from your saved collection instead of searching again.
Can I customize the Vogue app to show styles I actually like?
Yes, when you first open the app it asks about your style preferences, like 'classic' or 'modern.' However, some users find the recommendations still include a lot of flashy or young styles, so you may need to browse and save specific items to train the app better over time.
Why does the Vogue app restart and lose my place when I switch away?
This happens because the app doesn't always save your session when you leave to check a text or another app. To avoid losing your spot, try finishing an article or gallery in one go, or take a screenshot of the page title so you can search for it again quickly.
Is there a way to find an article again after the app refreshes and loses it?
Currently, the app doesn't have a history feature, so you'll need to use the search bar or browse categories like 'Runway' or 'Summer Updates' to find it. Saving articles you like right away with the bookmark button can prevent this frustration in the future.
How does the Vogue app compare to a free fashion app like Pinterest for outfit ideas?
Vogue offers professional, curated photos and articles from a trusted magazine, while Pinterest gives you a huge mix of user-uploaded images that can be less reliable. Vogue is better for polished, trend-focused inspiration, but Pinterest is more flexible for finding specific, everyday looks from real people.
