I haven’t signed up yet because I’m still testing, but for a free app that actually works, that pricing seems reasonable compared to the $10 a month I was paying for Nest Aware. No forced trial pop-ups shoving it in your face either, which I appreciated. The app doesn’t lock basic features behind a paywall, which honestly made me more likely to consider paying later.

I contacted support once because the app wasn’t recognizing my second camera on the first day. I submitted a ticket through their website on Sunday afternoon. I didn’t hear back until Wednesday morning—so that’s about three days of waiting. When they did respond, the guy was actually helpful and sent me a link to a specific firmware update for my camera model. It fixed the issue in maybe two minutes. I wish the response time was faster, especially for a security app where you might need help with a broken feed during a real emergency. The app itself hasn’t had an update since I installed it, so I can’t comment on update frequency, but the version I got seems stable enough for daily use. No crashes, no weird permission changes.

Data & Privacy

This is the part I always check carefully. SuperLive asks for camera and storage access, which makes sense. It also wants location permission “to improve streaming performance,” which I denied without any issue—the app still works fine. I read their privacy policy and it says they collect device info and usage data for analytics, but they claim not to share video feeds with third parties. The video data is encrypted in transit at least, which I verified by checking the connection type in my router logs. They also mention they don’t sell your data, but I’m always skeptical of that. For a free app from a smaller developer, it’s about as transparent as I’d expect. I’d feel better if they had a public transparency report or a clearer breakdown of what exactly “usage data” means, but compared to the shady permissions I’ve seen in other camera apps, SuperLive is definitely on the cleaner side.
