This app asks for location access to deliver local news, which makes sense, but it also wants access to your contacts and social media accounts for sharing features. That feels like overreach for a news app. The privacy policy is standard legal jargon, nothing that screams red flags, but I don’t love how much data it potentially collects. I’ve kept location permissions set to “While Using the App” and denied contacts access, and the core features still work fine—the map and news feed don’t nag me to enable more. But if you’re privacy-conscious, you should know it tracks your reading habits for those “smart recommendations.” Nothing shocking for a free app, but worth monitoring. I just wish they were more transparent about what they share with third-party advertisers. That’s a basic expectation in 2024.
