About Live Anime Shameji Pets
I saw this app had a high rating, so I thought I’d give it a try on my OnePlus. I’m not an anime expert, but I do like cheerful, simple things. The description said it was for decoration and fun, which sounded nice. After three days, I can say it’s exactly that. It doesn’t do anything useful, and that’s the point. It just adds a bit of playful life to your phone. My grandson would probably say it’s for younger folks, but I don’t care. I enjoy watching the little figures wander around. It reminds me of those old desktop pets from years ago, but on my phone.
Core Features
You get a bunch of these little characters for free. They walk across your screen, sit on your icons, and sometimes even chase each other. I found one that looks like a cat with a big head, and it’s my favorite. You can have more than one out at a time, which gets chaotic fast. I tried three once and it was too much—they covered up my clock! The best feature for me is you can set a reminder and one of them will hold up a little sign. I set one for my pills at noon, and now a tiny wizard pops up to remind me. It’s much nicer than a boring alarm.
Real-World Use
Setting it up was a bit confusing at first. The app asked for a permission called “display over other apps.” I was hesitant, but the instructions said it was needed for the pets to work, so I allowed it. After that, it was easy. I picked my cat character and there it was, sitting on my home screen. The real charm is in the surprises. Yesterday morning, while I was reading the news, I saw the little wizard trying to climb my battery percentage. He kept sliding down and it made me laugh. They don’t seem to use much battery, which I was worried about. They also wisely disappear when I open a video or my solitaire game.
Pricing & Value
The app is free, which is great. You get a good selection of characters to start. I noticed that some of the more fancy-looking ones are locked. You can earn a special currency slowly or buy it. I have no intention of spending money on this, and I’m perfectly happy with the free ones. They add new ones sometimes, I hear. There are optional ads you can watch to earn coins, but they don’t pop up and bother you. For a free bit of decoration, it’s very good. If you’re the type who wants every character, you might get tempted to spend, but I think it’s fine as is.
Updates & Support
I had one small problem where my cat pet vanished. I couldn’t find it anywhere. I looked in the app settings and found a way to send a message to support. I explained my issue on Tuesday afternoon. I didn’t hear back right away, which was a little frustrating. But by Friday morning, I got a nice, clear email from someone named Sam. They told me to go into the app’s settings and tap “Restart Service.” I did that, and my little cat popped right back up. So, support was helpful, just not speedy.
Data & Privacy
I got it from the official Play Store on my phone, so I felt safe about that. The only permission it really needs is that “display over other apps” one, which makes sense because how else could the pets walk on your screen? I didn’t have to make an account or give any personal information. The privacy policy looked standard to me. It doesn’t feel like an app that’s snooping; it just wants to show you its cute characters. That’s all I ask for.
What do the Live Anime Shimeji Pets actually do on my screen?
They are decorative virtual pets that wander across your home screen, sit on icons, chase each other, and even hold up reminder signs. They don't perform any practical tasks, but they add playful, cheerful movement to your phone for fun.
Can I have more than one Shimeji pet active at the same time?
Yes, you can have multiple pets out at once, but the review notes that using three can get chaotic and cover up important items like your clock. It's best to start with one or two to avoid clutter.
Why does the app need the 'display over other apps' permission, and is it safe?
This permission is required so the pets can appear on top of your home screen and other apps. It is safe to allow if you trust the app, as it's a standard Android permission for overlay features like these.
The pets disappeared when I opened a video or game. Is this a bug?
No, this is a deliberate feature to prevent interference with full-screen apps like videos or games. The pets automatically hide so they don't block your view or disrupt your experience.
How does Live Anime Shimeji Pets compare to classic desktop pets like those from the 90s?
It's very similar in spirit, offering cute characters that wander and interact with your screen, but it's designed for modern smartphones instead of a PC. The mobile version includes touch-friendly features like reminder signs and auto-hiding during videos.
