My Experience with LEGO® DUPLO® Peppa Pig

My grandson, Leo, is four and absolutely mad about Peppa Pig. When he comes over on a Tuesday afternoon, I used to scramble to find something to do. I downloaded this app hoping it would buy me twenty minutes to get his snack ready in peace. Well, it did better than that. The first time I opened it, I was worried it would be too complicated for him, or for me to help him with. But honestly, he took my Google Pixel 7 and just started tapping. He knew exactly what to do. He dragged those big digital bricks around and built a little car for Peppa. He was so proud, he made me take a picture. For a month now, it’s been our go-to quiet time activity. It feels more like a toy than a confusing video game, which I really like.

Features Worth Noting

The best part is how everything is on one map. Leo taps on Peppa’s house, and he’s right there, ready to build something in the garden. There’s no complicated menu with tiny text that I have to read for him. The bricks snap together with a nice little sound, so he knows when he’s got it right. I also noticed there are little stories that play out. In one, they need to fix Grandpa Pig’s boat. Leo had to find the right bricks and put them in place. When he finished, all the characters cheered and danced. His whole face lit up. The voices sound just like the people on the TV show, which makes it feel familiar to him. It’s not just random noise.

What Needs Work

My main gripe is with the music. There’s a cheerful little tune that plays on a loop in the background of the main map. After about ten minutes, it starts to drive me a bit batty. I wish there was a simple button right on that first screen to turn just the music off but keep the character voices and sound effects on. I had to dig into my phone’s settings to lower the media volume, which isn’t something I want to do every time. Also, sometimes when Leo gets excited and taps too fast, the screen seems to stutter for a second before catching up. It doesn’t crash, but it hiccups.

Pricing

The app didn’t cost anything to get, which is always a good start. Leo has been perfectly happy with all the free stuff that came with it—the house, the car, the boat. I see there are other “packs” you can buy inside the app, like a fairground. We haven’t bought any. He hasn’t asked for them because he’s still busy with what he has. I appreciate that the app isn’t constantly pestering us with pop-ups to buy more. What we got for free feels generous and has kept him busy for weeks.

Developer Notes

I haven’t had to contact anyone for help, as we haven’t had any real problems. But I did get curious and looked at the reviews on the Play Store before I wrote this. I saw a few other grandparents and parents mentioning the same music issue I had. A developer replied to one last month saying they’d “pass the feedback to the team.” That’s a good sign. The app has been updated a few times since I got it, which tells me the people who made it are still paying attention to it and not just letting it sit there.

Security & Privacy

This is very important to me. When I first opened the app, it didn’t ask for any permissions, which was a relief. It doesn’t need access to my contacts or photos. There are no social media links for a child to accidentally press. I don’t see any ads playing in the middle of the game, which is crucial. The only links are for those optional extra packs, and they’re behind a parent gate—you have to solve a simple math problem to get in. I tested it, and it worked. It feels like a safe, closed-off playground for Leo, which is exactly what I want on my phone.

Frequently asked questions
What makes the LEGO® DUPLO® Peppa Pig app easy for a young child to use?

The app uses a simple one-map design where kids can tap directly on locations like Peppa's house to start building. The digital bricks snap together with a satisfying sound, and there are no complicated menus or tiny text, so a child can play independently after just a few taps.

Does the app include story elements or just free building?

Yes, there are interactive story scenes, such as fixing Grandpa Pig's boat, where children must find and place the right bricks to complete a task. When they finish, the characters cheer and dance, which gives a real sense of accomplishment and keeps the play engaging.

Can I turn off the background music without losing character voices and sound effects?

Currently, there is no in-app button to mute just the music while keeping voices and effects. The only workaround is to lower your device's media volume in the phone settings, which isn't very convenient, so many users hope the developer adds a dedicated music toggle in a future update.

Why does the app sometimes freeze or lag when my child taps quickly?

If your child taps too fast, the screen can become unresponsive or lag due to the app processing multiple inputs at once. Closing and reopening the app usually fixes it, and tapping slowly or waiting for each brick to snap into place can help prevent the issue from happening again.

How does LEGO® DUPLO® Peppa Pig compare to other Peppa Pig apps like Peppa Pig: Paintbox?

Unlike Paintbox, which focuses on coloring and stickers, this app is more like a digital playset that lets kids build scenes with big bricks and follow mini stories. It feels less like a game and more like an interactive toy, making it a better choice for children who enjoy hands-on, constructive play rather than just creative coloring.
