I picked this up about a month ago when I needed something mindless to do during my lunch breaks at my data entry job. Honest opinion? It’s just a match-3 puzzle game, but the whole kitten theme makes it way more fun than all those boring jewel games. You match three or more kittens of the same color to clear them off the board. Simple stuff. But the sounds they make when you match them are adorable little mews, which honestly cracks me up every time. There’s no big story or anything like that, which I actually like. It’s just a cute little escape. I play it on my iPhone 15 Pro and the colors really pop on the screen. Even the loading screen with a kitten licking its paw makes me smile. It’s not life-changing, but it’s nice to have a little happy thing in your pocket.

Features & Highlights

So there’s more to it than just matching tiles. You collect different kitten characters as you go. Each one has a little personality and a unique look. I got one with a little pirate patch named Captain Whiskers, and another one that’s fluffy and gray called Dust Bunny. You can also decorate your own virtual kitten home. I haven’t spent much time on that yet because I’m too busy trying to beat levels, but my sister decorated hers like a little cat mansion and it’s adorable. There are social features too. You can visit your friends’ homes. I visited my coworker Jenna’s place yesterday and she has a trampoline for her kittens, which is just ridiculous but I love it. You can also send gifts. Usually it’s lives or a power-up. It feels more like a community than some other games I’ve tried. The events are cool too. Right now they have a Halloween event where special pumpkin kittens show up. I’ve been grinding those for the exclusive rewards.

User Experience

The game is super easy to pick up. I was matching kittens within seconds of the tutorial. The controls are just tap and swipe. Nothing complicated. But sometimes the levels ramp up in difficulty out of nowhere. Like there’s one level that took me literally three days to pass. I was stuck on it last Tuesday night and I almost threw my phone. But that’s the kind of challenge that keeps you coming back, I guess. The graphics are bright and happy, not grainy or lazy. The music is chill, like something you’d hear in a cat café. It’s not annoying like some games where the sound makes you want to turn it off immediately. Battery drain is moderate. I usually play for maybe 20-30 minutes on the bus home and it uses maybe 10-15%. Not bad. One thing that bugs me is the ads. If you want free power-ups you have to watch an ad, and some of them are 30 seconds long. I get it’s free, but sometimes I just want to play not watch some guy talk about lawn care.

Pricing

It’s free to download. I haven’t spent any real money yet, and I’ve gotten pretty far. But I can see where the temptation is. They have packs of coins and special kittens for like $2.99 or $4.99. There’s a monthly subscription too for $7.99 that gives you unlimited lives and extra rewards. Honestly, I don’t think you need it to have fun. But if you’re impatient like me and you keep running out of lives, it’s tempting. I almost bought the $1.99 starter pack last week but I stopped myself. The game does push you to buy stuff a little bit. Every time you fail a level they show you a deal. It’s not aggressive, but it’s there. For a free game it’s reasonable though. I’ve played way worse cash grabs.

Updates & Support

They update the game pretty often. Like I said, there’s a Halloween event going on now. Before that was some fall harvest thing with pumpkin pie kittens. It keeps the game feeling fresh. Support was okay. I had an issue where my kittens disappeared after I restored my phone. I contacted them through the app and wrote a message. It took about two to three days to get a reply. That was a little annoying because I was worried my progress was gone. But the person who answered was nice and they restored my account within a day after that. So total it was about three or four days. Not lightning fast, but they fixed it. That’s what matters to me.

Security & Privacy

Honestly, I didn’t think too much about this when I downloaded it. But the app asks for permission to access my photos when I want to take a screenshot. It also asks for contacts if I want to invite Facebook friends. I didn’t link my Facebook. I just play anonymously. I looked at their privacy policy in the settings once and it seemed pretty standard. They collect some data like your device type and gameplay stats. Nothing super creepy. No location tracking or anything. I feel fine playing it. It’s not like I’m typing in my credit card or anything. But if you’re super privacy-conscious, just don’t connect your social accounts. That’s what I do.
