First Impression

I was scrolling through my friend Sarah’s Instagram stories last Tuesday and saw the cute invite she made for her son’s party. I asked her what she used, and she said “Birthday Invitation Card Maker.” I was skeptical because my old app had become a mess of pop-ups and confusing menus. I downloaded it on my Pixel 7 right there on the couch. Opening it up, I was immediately relieved. It was just a clean home screen with a big “Create” button. No fuss, no complicated tutorial. I tapped it and was looking at a bunch of colorful templates in seconds. It felt like an app that just wanted to help me get a job done, not show off a million features I’d never use.

What It Does Well

This app gets the important stuff right. The templates are actually good. I’m not talking about cheesy clipart from 2005. I found a really nice dinosaur theme for my son’s 5th birthday that didn’t look cheap. Changing the text is stupid easy. You tap it, type your thing, and can even pick a different font. I made the “ROAR! You’re Invited!” part in a chunky, fun font and kept the time and address in something plain so parents could actually read it. The best part is adding your own photos. I used a picture of my son in his dinosaur pajamas, and it fit right into the design. I made the whole invite during my lunch break at work, saved it, and texted it to the family group chat. Everyone loved it. It looks way more polished than the effort it took.

Where It Falls Short

It’s not perfect, and the issues show up when you try to do more than the basics. Sometimes, when you’re moving a bunch of stickers and text boxes around, things get a little laggy on my Pixel. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s annoying when you’re trying to line something up just right. The bigger letdown was with the fancier templates. I tried one for my mom’s surprise party that had a lot of floral decorations. Trying to tap on the specific text box I wanted to edit, with all those tiny leaves and flowers in the way, was a real pain. I ended up zooming way in to click on it. Also, while the app is free, you do see ads. They’re usually at the bottom, but once one popped up right as I was about to save, and I almost tapped it by mistake.

Is It Worth the Price?

Absolutely, yes. It’s free. For making a nice-looking birthday card in ten minutes, you can’t beat that. The ads are there, but they mostly stay out of the way. I thought about paying the couple bucks to remove them, but honestly, I only use this app maybe twice a year. For how little I need it, the free version gives me everything I want. All the templates are free, all the editing tools are free, and you can save and share as much as you want. You get a lot for nothing.

Developer & Support

This is where my experience got a bit sour. Back in March, I ran into a weird glitch where the app wouldn’t let me save my design in high quality. It just kept failing. I figured I’d contact support, which was a link in the app settings. I explained the problem on a Thursday. I didn’t hear back until the following Tuesday, and the reply was super vague—just a generic “try restarting the app” message that I’d already done. I never did get a real fix; the problem just sort of went away after an app update a week later. It left me feeling like if I had a serious issue, I’d be on my own. The updates do come regularly, though, usually adding a few new themes, which is nice.

Privacy & Safety

I’m always a little wary of free apps, especially ones where you upload personal photos. The app asks for permission to access your photos and media, which makes sense because you need that to add your own pictures. I didn’t see it asking for anything weird like my contacts or location. There’s a privacy policy link in the Play Store listing. I skimmed it, and it seemed pretty standard—they talk about using data for the app to function and for ads. It’s from “Galaxy studio apps,” which isn’t a huge famous company, so I just make sure I’m only uploading the photos I intend to use for the invite and nothing else. It feels safe enough for this kind of task.

Frequently asked questions
Can I add my own photos to the birthday invitation templates?

Yes, you can easily add your own photos. The app lets you insert a picture, like a child in dinosaur pajamas, and it will fit right into the design, making the invite feel personal and polished.

Is it easy to change the text and fonts on an invitation?

Absolutely. You simply tap on any text box to edit the wording, and you can choose from different fonts. For example, you can use a fun, chunky font for the main message and a plain, readable font for details like the time and address.

Why does the app sometimes feel laggy when I move stickers or text boxes?

The app can get a little laggy when you're moving multiple stickers and text boxes around, especially on devices like a Pixel 7. It's not a dealbreaker, but it can be annoying when you're trying to line things up precisely.

What can I do if I have trouble tapping on the right text box in a busy template?

If a template has lots of decorations, like floral elements, it can be tricky to tap the exact text box you want to edit. Try zooming in on the area or tapping near the edge of the text box to select it more easily.

How does Birthday Invitation Card Maker compare to other invitation apps?

Unlike some apps that are cluttered with pop-ups and confusing menus, this one keeps things simple with a clean home screen and a big "Create" button. It focuses on getting the job done quickly, so you can make a great-looking invite in minutes without unnecessary features.
