I picked up Wish about a month ago because I needed to buy a bunch of little prizes for my daughter’s third-grade class party. Amazon was going to cost me an arm and a leg for bulk stickers and those mini slime kits. So I gave Wish a shot on my OnePlus 11. Honestly, the first order surprised me. I got 40 slap bracelets for like eight bucks. They showed up in about twelve days, not the two-week-plus I braced for. But I also ordered a “cute unicorn nightlight” that looked nothing like the pictures—it was tiny, cheap plastic, and the light was dim yellow instead of rainbow. So yeah, you roll the dice a bit. I use the app now for stuff where perfection isn’t critical. Like, I bought a set of silicone cupcake molds for a bake sale, and those were actually great. I check the app every other evening when I’m sitting on the couch after the kids are in bed. The endless scrolling is kind of addictive, not gonna lie. My biggest tip is to read reviews carefully and look at customer photos, not just the main seller pics. That saved me from buying a phone charger that probably would’ve melted.

Features Worth Noting

The daily login bonus is a nice little motivator—I got a 15% off coupon on my third day just for opening the app while waiting for my coffee to brew. The personalized recommendations are hit or miss. Last week it showed me a lot of Barbie knockoffs, which made sense since I’d been searching for birthday gifts, but it also keeps pushing me expensive drones that I’d never buy. I like the wishlist feature a lot. I save items there and check back during sales instead of impulse buying. Order tracking works decently but the updates aren’t super detailed—just “shipped” then “arrived” with a gap of silence in between. What Needs Work

Shipping time is the big one. I ordered a costume for my son’s Halloween parade on October 5th, and it didn’t arrive until October 28th. That’s way too close for comfort. I had a backup from a local store, thank goodness. Also, product quality is super inconsistent. I bought a “stainless steel” lunchbox that was clearly painted aluminum, and the paint chipped off on the first day. For a parent, that’s frustrating because I’m not just buying for myself—I’m buying for my kids who’ll actually use this stuff. The return process looks complicated too. I haven’t tried it yet, but the app makes you jump through hoops with seller messages and photos before you can even start. Customer support took several days to reply when I messaged about a tracking number that never updated. The person was nice and helpful once they responded, but waiting from Tuesday to Saturday for an answer felt like forever when I needed that item for a Friday party. I’d also appreciate a simple “age filter” for toys. I almost bought a set of small plastic animals that turned out to be choking hazards for my toddler. That’s just scary.

Pricing

The prices are what keep me opening this app. You can get a pack of twelve socks for three bucks, or a phone case for one dollar. For parents on a budget, that’s tempting. But you have to factor in the long shipping and the gamble. I’ve returned items exactly once, and it took twenty-one days to get my money back. Not great for cash flow. There are hidden fees too—shipping adds up if you buy items from different sellers, and some things have a “handling fee” at checkout that isn’t obvious until you’re about to pay. I spent fifteen dollars on three items, and the shipping was nine bucks separately. That kind of thing annoys me. But for planned purchases where I don’t mind waiting, the savings are real. I bought a set of eight reusable straws for two dollars that would be eight dollars at Target. So overall, the pricing is good if you’re smart about it.

Developer Notes

The app gets updated pretty often. I noticed it updated twice in my first two weeks. One update fixed a bug where the cart wouldn’t save items. That was good. But sometimes the update notes are vague, just saying “performance improvements” without explaining anything. I wish they’d communicate more about what’s changing. The app size is reasonable, doesn’t hog my storage like some games my kids download. On my OnePlus 11, it opens fast and scrolls smooth. No complaints there. The developer seems active, I’ll give them that. But I wish they’d focus on fixing the search algorithm and the return process instead of pushing new sales features.

Security & Privacy

I was nervous about putting my payment info into an app that sells two-dollar items from unknown sellers. But I use Google Pay, which adds a layer of protection. I also made sure to check that the app only asks for necessary permissions—no reading my contacts or calling, just storage for saving pictures of orders. Wish does show you ads for other apps when you browse, which I find a bit sketchy. There was one pop-up ad that tried to get me to download some “free prize” app, and I immediately closed it. I wouldn’t let my kids use Wish unsupervised for that reason. The app has a privacy policy that’s long and boring, but I skimmed it and it says they share data with third parties for advertising. That’s pretty standard these days, but as a parent, I don’t love it. I keep my account locked with two-factor authentication, which Wish supports. That’s a plus. Just be careful what you click on inside the app.
