Texaco
What core features does the Texaco app offer?
The Texaco app includes a station locator with real-time gas prices, contactless payment at the pump, and a Fuel Rewards tracker. The payment feature works well when it connects quickly, letting you scan your phone at the reader for a fast transaction.
How does the station locator and price display work?
The station map shows nearby Texaco locations and lists the price per gallon, which is very useful for finding the cheapest option. However, the app can struggle with background updates, so it may show stale prices or rewards balances until you force-close and reopen it.
Why does the app sometimes fail to connect for payment at the pump?
A common issue is the 'Pay at Pump' button spinning endlessly, especially when you're in a hurry. This usually happens when the app hasn't refreshed its connection in the background, and the fix is to kill the app and reopen it to force a fresh session.
How can I fix the app showing an old rewards balance when I arrive at the station?
The Texaco app is poor at updating rewards in the background, so it often shows a balance from when you last opened it at home. To see your current balance, force-close the app and reopen it once you're at the pump.
How does Texaco compare to the Shell app?
Texaco's app feels cleaner and more modern than Shell's, and its payment function is faster when it works. However, it has reliability issues like background update failures that the Shell app didn't have before glitching, so it's a trade-off between polish and dependability.
