I grabbed Tagged a little over a year ago because I was working on a side project and needed to network with locals in my area—not necessarily for dating, just for connections. I’m an iPhone 15 Pro user, and honestly, the app ran fine on my phone. No crashes or lagging. But let me tell you about my first Tuesday night using it. I was sitting on my couch scrolling through profiles, and within 20 minutes I got a message from someone named “Lisa” who immediately asked for my number. Red flag. I stuck with it because I wanted to see if I could actually find real people. Over time, I chatted with a few folks who seemed genuine—a guy named Mike who wanted to grab coffee and a woman who was into hiking. But the whole process felt like wading through a swamp to find a few cool frogs. The app works, but you have to be patient and skeptical.

Features Worth Noting

Tagged has a bunch of stuff you can mess with for free. The profile setup is simple—pick some photos, write a bio, choose your interests. The matching algorithm is okay; it suggested people based on my location and hobbies, but sometimes it threw random folks from across the country. I liked the live streaming feature where you can watch random people broadcast themselves—kinda like TikTok but more awkward. What Needs Work

So, the biggest problem? Fake profiles. I swear half the “women” sending me messages were bots or scammers. I’m into hiking and photography, but it kept suggesting people who listed their interests as “partying” and “shopping.” Not exactly a match. Here’s where I get skeptical. Tagged is free to download and use, but they really want you to pay for extras. There’s a VIP membership that gives you things like seeing who viewed your profile, sending unlimited messages, and boosting your profile. I looked into it—it’s around $9.99 a month, but I’ve seen it go on sale for less. You can also buy tokens for virtual gifts and games, which range from $1.99 to $99.99. For me, a budget-conscious person, I refused to pay anything. I wanted to see if I could get real results for free. And I did make a couple of connections, but it took longer and I felt like I was missing out on features. If you’re serious about meeting people here, you might need to pay. But do yourself a favor: use the free version for a month before opening your wallet.

Developer Notes

The developer, Ifwe Inc., seems to update the app occasionally. I’ve noticed a few updates over the past year that fixed bugs and added new filters. But they’re not super transparent about how their matching algorithm works or how they handle data. I read some App Store reviews that mentioned support is slow or unhelpful, but I never contacted them because the app worked fine for me technically. The developer also owns similar apps like MeetMe, so they know the social discovery game. That said, the app feels a bit dated in design—like a social network from 2015. It’s functional but not pretty. I’d like to see a cleaner interface and maybe better moderation for fake accounts.

Security & Privacy

This worried me honestly. Tagged asks for a lot of info—your location, photos, interests, even your birthday. Their privacy settings let you control who can message you and who sees your profile, but I’m not sure how secure your data is. I didn’t have any issues, but I’ve heard stories about people getting harassed. The app does have a block and report feature, which I used twice on spam accounts. It worked immediately, so that’s good. However, I wouldn’t recommend sharing personal details beyond what’s necessary. And definitely don’t give out your phone number or address. Use a Google Voice number if you need to talk outside the app. Overall, it’s okay if you’re careful, but don’t trust everyone.
