However, after some exploration, the underlying logic becomes clearer, and the process of connecting speakers to a Wi-Fi network and getting them to work together is ultimately achievable.
What It Does Well
The app’s primary strength is its ability to control multiple Sonos speakers from a single device, allowing users to adjust volume or change playback without needing to be near each speaker. It integrates smoothly with services like Apple Music, making it easy to search for and play music across all connected speakers. The grouping feature is particularly useful, enabling multiple speakers to play the same audio with a single tap. A sleep timer is also available, which works reliably for winding down at night. The volume slider is responsive and lag-free, providing a solid experience for basic playback controls.
Where It Falls Short
While the app handles basic functions well, it becomes less user-friendly when attempting more advanced features. For instance, Trueplay tuning can alter sound in unexpected ways, and some users may find the results less desirable than the default settings. The app occasionally loses connection to speakers, requiring a restart to resume playback—an interruption that can be frustrating during listening sessions. Adding a new speaker to an existing setup is not as straightforward as it could be, often prompting unnecessary updates or steps before the device is usable. Additionally, the interface uses small buttons and text, which can lead to accidental taps, particularly for users who would benefit from larger controls or an accessibility option.
