I picked up this app a few months ago after my son mentioned it on the phone last March. Features Worth Noting

What Needs Work

Now, it’s not perfect. The first few days, I kept accidentally triggering the gesture controls. I’d try to scroll down and suddenly the menu would pop up. It took me a week to stop doing that. I also wish the text was a little bigger by default. I’m 67 and my eyes aren’t what they used to be. I found the setting to increase font size, but it was buried a few layers deep. That’s frustrating for someone who just wants to read. Another thing: the app uses a lot of battery on long sessions. Last Sunday I was on it for maybe two hours while my wife watched her shows, and my phone felt warm. That never happened with simpler apps. It’s not a dealbreaker, but I notice it.

Pricing

I bought the Pro version outright because I hate ads. On the free version of Reddit, every third post was a loud ad for a car or fast food. That annoyed me. The Pro version cost me a few dollars, and I haven’t seen a single ad since. For a fixed-income retiree, that’s a fair price for peace of mind. No subscriptions, no hidden charges. Pay once and you’re done. That’s the only way I’ll buy an app. I’d rather pay up front than get pestered every month. So yes, the price is fine for what you get.

Developer Notes

I had to contact support once in April. The app kept crashing when I opened a specific subreddit about antique tools. I emailed the developer through the app and got a reply from someone named Dave four days later. He was polite and gave me a clear fix: clear the cache. I did it, and it worked. I was a little annoyed it took days instead of hours, but the help was good. I appreciated that they didn’t use a bunch of technical jargon. Just told me what to tap. That kind of simple support matters to people like me.

Security & Privacy

I don’t know much about security, truthfully. But I checked the permissions when I installed it. The app only asks for what it needs: storage for saving pictures, and internet access. Nothing about reading my contacts or tracking my location. That felt respectful. I’ve used other apps that want everything. Relay seems to mind its own business. I also read the privacy policy once because my son told me to. It’s long and boring, but it basically says they don’t sell your data. For a Reddit app, that’s the best I can hope for.
