I saw a clip of this game on Twitter last Tuesday night and downloaded it right then, mostly just to see what the fuss was about. I figured it would be one of those silly physics games you play for five minutes and delete. Two weeks later, it’s still on my home screen. The whole point is to knock these wobbly, floppy characters off a platform with wild weapons. It sounds simple, and it is, but the chaos is absolutely hilarious. Every match is different because the ragdolls tumble and flail in the most unpredictable ways. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve meant to just play one quick round before bed and ended up staying up way too late, either because I was cracking up at my own guy tripping over his feet or because I was determined to finally beat that one tricky challenge.

Features & Highlights

For a free game, it feels like there’s actually stuff to do. The weapons are the best part. You start with a basic sword, but you earn coins to unlock new ones just by playing. I saved up for the giant hammer, and the first time I used it to send an opponent spinning off into the sunset, I actually yelled “YES!” in my empty living room. There’s also a magic wand thing that shoots blasts, which totally changes how you play. I mostly stick to the single-player stuff because I like to zone out, but I’ve dipped into the multiplayer a few times and it’s a riot (and also kind of brutal, people are good). Customizing your fighter with silly hats and colors is a nice little bonus. My guy currently rocks a bright pink mohawk and a pizza slice on his chest, because why not?

User Experience

It just works. That’s the biggest thing for me. I opened it, tapped play, and was in a match in seconds. No complicated tutorials. You just swipe to move and tap to attack. The controls on my iPhone 14 feel really responsive. After a few tries, I got the hang of dashing around and timing my swings. The graphics are bright and cartoony, which makes all the flailing limbs easy to follow. My only real complaint is when there are four fighters on screen at once, it can get a little messy. A couple times during a crazy brawl, I’ve fumbled and tapped the menu button by accident when I meant to attack. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it can be annoying when you’re in the middle of a good streak.

Pricing

It’s free. You can play everything without spending a dime. You earn coins from every match and from little daily goals, and I’ve unlocked a bunch of weapons and cosmetics just from that. There are optional video ads you can watch to double your coins after a round, but you can always just skip them. I’ve never felt pushed to buy anything. There is a premium currency if you want to instantly buy the fanciest gear, but I haven’t even been tempted. For the amount of dumb fun I’ve gotten out of it, the value is insane.

Updates & Support

I’ve had it for a couple weeks and I already got one update that added a new icy map. It wasn’t a huge deal, but it was a cool surprise that showed the developers are still paying attention. I haven’t had any crashes or bugs bad enough to make me look for a support contact, so I can’t speak to that directly. Looking at the app store page, it seems like they put out small updates every few weeks to fix little things or add a new item, which is a good sign. It doesn’t feel like a dead app they just threw out there and forgot about.

Security & Privacy

I got it from the regular Apple App Store, so I felt fine about that. The app does ask for permission to track your activity across other apps, but you can just hit “Ask App Not to Track” and the game works perfectly. I did that and haven’t noticed any difference. It doesn’t need any weird permissions to function. As far as I can tell, it’s just a simple, silly game that doesn’t try to snoop on your stuff.
