I’ll say it plain: the design isn’t pretty. It’s functional, which is fine by me. The buttons are big enough for my aging fingers, and the text is clear. I wish the font was a little larger, but I adjusted it in my phone settings. Navigating between study modes is simple – tap a button and you’re in. There’s no confusing menu tree that sends you in circles. That being said, I did get lost once when I accidentally hit the “custom test” option and couldn’t figure out how to get back to the main menu. I closed the app and reopened it. That worked. The loading times are decent, maybe a second or two. I’ve had a few moments where the app froze briefly after I answered a question, but nothing that made me want to throw my phone. For a retiree like me who’s not very technical, it’s easy enough to use after the first day. I’d say it’s a B-minus for looks but an A for getting the job done.

It cost me something like fifteen or twenty bucks, I forget exactly. I remember thinking it was a bit steep for a phone app, but then I looked at how much the printed study guides cost – some are forty dollars plus shipping. So it’s actually a deal. There’s no monthly subscription, which I really like. You pay once and you own it. No hidden fees or pop-ups asking for more money. I checked that immediately because I hate those games where you buy a car and then have to pay to unlock the wheels. This is straightforward. For what you get – hundreds of questions, explanations, and the supplement – it’s fair. I’d say it’s worth the price if you’re serious about passing your test. If you’re just curious, maybe wait for a sale or borrow a friend’s phone to try it.

Updates & Support

I haven’t seen an update yet, but the app seems to work fine. I had one problem a week ago – the app wouldn’t let me log in after I changed my password. I contacted support through their website. It took them three days to reply, which felt like forever when I was in the middle of studying. But when they did answer, the guy was polite and walked me through resetting it step by step. He even apologized for the delay. That meant a lot. I appreciate that they didn’t just send a generic link. I wish it was faster, but I understand small teams might be busy. The app itself hasn’t crashed on me, so I haven’t needed much help beyond that one hiccup.

Security & Privacy

I’m not the type to worry about hackers or data leaks, but I did notice the app asks for basic account info – email and a password. No access to my contacts or camera or anything creepy. I read their privacy policy (skimming, really) and it said they don’t sell your info. That’s good enough for me. The sign-in process is standard. I’d feel comfortable letting my grandson use it on my phone. There’s nothing sensitive stored besides your study progress. If you’re paranoid, use a separate email. But I think it’s fine for an aviation study app. Not like it’s a banking app.
