First Impression

Honestly, I was ready to be annoyed. I downloaded Perfect Viewer because I was sick of my old comic app crashing on big files, and I refuse to pay for anything sight-unseen. What It Does Well

This app gets out of its own way. Reading is smooth, zooming is responsive, and it hasn’t choked on a single file yet. Once I paid the $3, the immediate win was the clean bookshelf. It just looks like *my* stuff now. The real game-changer for me, though, was linking both my Google Drive and my OneDrive at the same time. I keep newer comics on one and archives on the other. Last Saturday, I was at my brother’s place and wanted to show him an old *Akira* volume. Instead of the usual dance of disconnecting and reconnecting clouds, I just scrolled. Found it in my combined list in seconds. It’s a small thing that fixed a big weekly annoyance.

Where It Falls Short

Look, the app is called “Donation” for a reason. Don’t expect a massive feature dump. You’re basically paying to remove limits. The settings menu is still a bit of a maze, with options buried in sub-menus that aren’t always intuitive. I spent ten minutes one evening trying to figure out how to set a default folder view. Also, while the extra page animations are a nice perk, some of them feel a bit dated. The “curl” effect is fun for a vintage feel, but others are just visual clutter I turned off. It’s functional, not flashy, and the interface shows its age a little.

Is It Worth the Price?

For me, yes. But only because I tested the free app thoroughly first and knew exactly what I was getting. It’s three bucks, one time. That’s less than a fancy coffee. I’m paying to remove an ad and unlock a convenience feature (multiple clouds) I knew I’d use daily. If you only read comics once in a blue moon, the free version is more than enough and honestly one of the best out there. But if you’re like me and this becomes your daily reader, the upgrade removes the tiny bits of friction. It’s a value purchase, not an impulse one.

I haven’t needed to contact support, which is a good sign. The app just works. Checking the Play Store reviews, other users mention the developer, Rookie001, is active on forums like XDA. Updates come every few months, usually just bug fixes and compatibility tweaks. It’s clear this isn’t some big company’s app; it’s a passion project that’s been maintained for years. That actually made me more comfortable paying the small fee. I’m supporting a lone dev who keeps a good thing running, not a corporation with a subscription trap.

Privacy & Safety

It asks for storage permission, which is obvious—it needs to see your files to open them. I downloaded it from the Play Store, so there’s that layer of security. The app doesn’t ask for internet, contacts, or anything weird. It feels offline and private. My comics live on my device and my cloud accounts; the app just acts as a viewer. I didn’t see any sketchy data collection warnings or permissions. For a simple utility app, it seems to mind its own business, which is exactly what I want.
