I grabbed this app on a Thursday night after seeing someone rave about it on Reddit. I thought, hey, maybe I’ll finally give my iPhone’s home screen that clean, minimal look everyone’s been posting. The idea of over 2000 outline-style icons sounded perfect for someone like me who hates clutter and just wants things to look sharp without a bunch of visual noise. But after 72 hours of trying to make this thing work, I’m more annoyed than impressed. The concept is solid — outline icons, no heavy colors, simple elegance — but the execution is a mess. It feels like the developer, RandomVector, put all their effort into the marketing description and forgot to test the actual product on a real phone. I’m not saying it’s a scam, but I am saying I regret paying money for it.

Features & Highlights

On paper, the features sound great. You get over 2000 icons, a bunch of categories like tech, food, nature, and more, plus some matching wallpapers. The icons are supposed to be “high-quality” and “sharp on any screen.” In reality, about half the icons I tried to apply either didn’t match the outline style or looked blurry on my iPhone 14’s display. And the wallpapers? A handful are okay, but most are low-res and look like they were thrown together in five minutes. The app promises regular updates, which is nice, but I haven’t seen any evidence of that in the three days I’ve used it. What really bugs me is that you have to manually apply each icon one by one — there’s no batch apply feature. For a paid app in 2024, that’s just lazy. I spent an hour picking icons for my most used apps and then realized half of them weren’t even in the collection. Facebook? Not there. Gmail? Nope. Spotify? You’d think so, but no. User Experience

The user experience is a slow crawl. The app’s interface is basic — think a grid of small icon previews that take forever to load because they’re pulled from some server instead of being cached locally. I have fast 5G at my office, and even then, scrolling through categories was laggy. The search function is a joke; it didn’t find “Instagram” or “Slack,” which are pretty standard apps. I had to scroll through the entire “Social” category to find a generic alternative that sort of worked. And the apply process? You tap an icon, it opens a pop-up asking you to set it via the shortcuts app or a third-party launcher (which iPhone doesn’t fully support anyway). It took me three tries just to get one icon to stick on my home screen. I almost threw my phone across the room Tuesday morning when the app crashed mid-apply and I had to start over. For a paid app that’s supposed to make your life easier, this is a headache I did not need.

Let’s talk money. This app is paid — not free, not freemium, you have to fork over cash upfront. I think I paid around $3.99, which isn’t life-changing, but it’s enough that I expect it to work. Inside the app, there are also in-app purchases for “premium packs.” So you pay to get in the door, and then they hit you with more paywalls for extra icons. That’s a bad look. I understand developers need to make a living, but charging for an app that feels half-baked and then asking for more money to unlock the actually good icons? That’s not value, that’s a money grab. I skipped the extras because I was already annoyed with the basics.

Updates & Support

This is where I got really frustrated. After the crash issue, I reached out to support through the in-app contact form on Saturday afternoon. I explained the problem clearly — app crashes when applying icons, missing popular apps, blurry icons — and asked for a refund or at least some guidance. I got a reply on Sunday, but it was a generic copy-paste message: “Thank you for your feedback. Please try reinstalling the app and make sure your device is updated.” That’s it. No apology, no real help, no mention of a fix. I reinstalled it, same problem. I wrote back asking for a refund and haven’t heard anything since. So support is slow, vague, and honestly feels like a robot reading from a script. For a paid app, that’s unacceptable.

Security & Privacy

I didn’t notice anything scary in the permissions. It asks for access to your photos (for setting wallpapers I think) and your device storage. That’s pretty standard. But the app did try to access my clipboard once when I copied a support message, which made me raise an eyebrow. I don’t think it’s malicious, but it’s sloppy. The privacy policy (which I actually read because I’m paranoid) says they collect basic analytics data and device info. Nothing about selling data, but also nothing about encryption. So take that for what it’s worth. I wouldn’t call it a security risk, but it’s not exactly a fortress either.
