What Needs Work

It’ll connect to the network, but then you still have to open your browser and tap through the portal yourself. I was at the airport last month and got excited when my phone connected automatically, only to find I still couldn’t get online. I had to do the manual step. Developer Notes

I had one weird issue about six months ago where the app stopped scanning for networks entirely. I used the “Contact Support” link inside the app. I got an auto-reply right away saying they got my message, which was fine. Then, a few days later, I got an actual email from a person named Alex. They asked a couple questions about my phone settings and suggested a fix. The problem actually sorted itself out before I could try their steps, probably with a phone update, but it was nice to get a real human response. It just took a bit longer than I’d hoped.

Security & Privacy

This was my main worry. Letting an app automatically connect me to any open network sounds risky. The app does have a feature that throws up a warning if it detects a network with really poor security. I’ve seen that alert twice, and both times I told the app not to connect. It made me feel a bit better, like it’s not totally blind. I still wouldn’t do online banking on a random public network it found, but for checking email or browsing social media, I feel okay. The privacy policy says they don’t collect your browsing data, which is all I really care about.
