I’ve unlocked five characters just by playing normally. There are skins that cost money, but they’re purely cosmetic. I don’t care about looking flashy, I care about winning. That said, the premium currency grind slows down after the initial burst. If you want every new shikigami on release day, you’ll probably need to drop $10-$20 per month. That’s cheaper than a night out but still annoying. I’d rather they just charged a flat $5 for the game upfront instead of the microtransaction model. But I get it—this is how mobile games make money. For a free player like me, the value is excellent. I’m getting hours of entertainment for zero dollars.

Contacted support twice. First time was about a bug in the guild interface where the “members online” counter stayed at zero even when my friends were clearly playing. I submitted a ticket on a Wednesday night. Got an automated response immediately saying “we have received your request.” Then nothing for four days. No weird ads, no spam texts. They do push notifications for daily rewards, which I turned off because I hate notification spam.
