Last Tuesday, I was waiting for my coffee order and just scrolling mindlessly through my phone. I looked at my home screen and it hit me—it was so boring. All the sharp edges and bright colors felt dated. I remembered seeing this icon pack featured in the App Store a few weeks back and decided, why not? I paid the 99 cents right there in line. By the time I got my latte, I had the app open. The setup wasn’t some crazy tech puzzle. It basically just showed me a list of all my apps. I tapped on the ones I use all the time—Messages, Photos, Spotify—and swapped their icons. The change was instant. Putting my phone down on the cafe table after, it didn’t even look like my phone anymore. It had this soft, frosted look that felt way more modern and put-together. It’s been over a month now and that first impression stuck. My phone just feels nicer to look at every day.

Features Worth Noting

The main thing is the sheer number of icons. I have some random apps, like my local library’s tool and a specific weather radar app, and I was shocked to find icons for both. They all share that same fluffy glass style, so nothing looks out of place. It makes everything feel unified. I also really like the calendar icons. My phone’s calendar app icon now shows the actual date, and it updates on its own. It’s a tiny detail, but it’s clever and makes the whole setup feel less like a static skin and more like a real part of the phone. The app itself is simple. There’s no social feed, no shop, no bloat. You pick your launcher (I use the stock iOS launcher), you browse your apps, and you change them. It does the one thing it promises.

What Needs Work

My biggest gripe is that you can’t just apply the whole pack at once. You have to go icon by icon, which for the first 20 or so is fun, but then it gets repetitive. I wanted to do my whole phone and after about 50 apps, I just gave up and only did my home screens and dock. It’s a limitation of how iOS works, I get that, but it’s still the one part of the process that feels like a chore. Also, while most icons are perfect, a couple for my lesser-used apps have a slightly different shade of the glass effect. It’s not a dealbreaker, you only see it if you’re looking for it, but I noticed it when I was setting everything up.

It costs 99 cents. That’s it. No subscriptions, no ads popping up, no “pro” version you have to upgrade to later. For the price of a song you don’t really like on iTunes, you get the whole pack. I’ve spent more on apps I used once and deleted. This one I use every single time I look at my phone, so for me, it was a no-brainer. It’s a straight-up purchase, which I appreciate.

Developer Notes

I haven’t had to contact support, but I poked around the App Store reviews before buying. A lot of people were asking for specific app icons, and the developer, AppixoStudio, was actually replying in the comments saying things like “added in the latest update” or “on our list.” I checked after I bought it and sure enough, there was an update waiting. It added a bunch of new icons, including one for an app I’d just downloaded. It feels like they’re still working on it, which is good. The app itself hasn’t crashed on me once, which is more than I can say for some bigger, free apps.

Security & Privacy

This was a small worry for me. The app needs access to your home screen to change the icons, which makes sense. What put me at ease was that it doesn’t ask for any other permissions. No location, no contacts, no network access. It just sits there and lets you pick icons. I checked its App Store privacy label and it says “No Data Collected,” which matches what I see. It feels like a simple, offline tool, and that’s exactly what I wanted.
