User Experience

Getting into a game is incredibly fast, which I loved. The controls are simple taps and swipes that work well. My phone never struggled with performance, and the art style is bright and clear. Where my experience soured was with the ads and the nagging. Yes, you expect ads in a free game, but the frequency and placement started to feel manipulative. After a close loss, an ad would immediately pop up offering a “second chance” for coins if I watched a 30-second video. It turns a moment of frustration into a monetization opportunity, and that left a bad taste. The menu also constantly highlights the premium battle pass and currency shop.

However, the game design clearly pushes you toward the premium track. The coolest outfits and emotes are locked behind the paid “Banana Pass” or the premium gems. The game constantly shows you what you’re “missing” by not paying. While not pay-to-win, it creates a two-tier system where paying players visibly have more flair and status, which can feel exclusionary in a social game.

The developer does add new mini-game modes and events fairly often, maybe every three weeks or so. I noticed a new racing game pop up last month. This constant flow of content is a plus. I never had to contact support myself, as I didn’t run into technical bugs. Scrolling through the App Store reviews, the support feedback is mixed. Some people praise quick fixes for account issues, while others complain about being ignored when reporting payment problems. It seems like support is inconsistent, which isn’t a great sign.

Security & Privacy

This is where I uninstalled the app. I’m careful about permissions. When I first downloaded it, I was wary but the games were fun enough to make me look past it initially. This week, I finally sat down and read the full privacy policy linked in the App Store. It was a wake-up call. For a simple game hub, it collects a huge amount of data: device identifiers, coarse location, purchase history, and detailed gameplay analytics. It states this data can be used for “third-party advertising” and shared with “analytics partners.” The app also requests access to my phone’s advertising identifier. Why does a game where monkeys throw bananas need to track my purchase history or share my data with multiple partners? The fun isn’t worth that level of exposure. It feels like the real product isn’t the game, but the player data.
