There’s also automatic camera backup, which I turned on immediately—every photo from my lake trip got uploaded to a folder named “Camera Roll.” Cool, but it filled my free space in an hour. Offline access works too: I saved a PDF of a recipe to view later, and it pulled up fine without Wi-Fi. Sharing files is simple—just tap a button and send a link. Security-wise, you can lock the app with a fingerprint or PIN, which I appreciate because I’ve got nosy kids at home. User Experience

Using it on my OnePlus 11 feels smooth most of the time. The app opens fast, and swiping through folders is snappy. But the interface is a bit cluttered—too many buttons and pop-ups trying to sell me on a subscription. Here’s the real talk. The app is free to download, but 5GB is a joke for anyone with a modern phone. My camera roll alone is 8GB, so I hit the limit in less than a day. To get more, you gotta pay: $1.99 a month for 100GB or $6.99 for 1TB with Microsoft 365. That’s not terrible, but it’s way pricier per gig than something like Google Drive’s $1.99 for 100GB too—except Google gives you 15GB free upfront. I’m not paying until I’ve squeezed every free option dry. There’s no trial for the paid tier on Android, which stinks. I hate feeling like I’m being nickel-and-dimed from the start. You can earn extra storage through referrals, but that’s a hassle. For a budget-conscious person like me, the cost doesn’t match the value unless you’re deep into Microsoft’s ecosystem.

Updates & Support

I had a problem on day two: a video of me falling off a paddleboard uploaded but wouldn’t play back. I contacted support through the app’s chat feature on a Wednesday evening. I got an automated reply saying they’d get back to me in 24 hours. It took closer to 30 hours, and the response was super vague—something like “try clearing your cache.” I did that, no luck. I replied asking for more help, and it’s been radio silence for a day now. Honestly, that left me feeling unsupported and skeptical. For a big company like Microsoft, I expected faster, clearer help. Security & Privacy

You can lock the app with your phone’s fingerprint or a PIN, which I set up right away because my tablet is sometimes passed around. Individual files can get a passcode too, but that’s buried in settings. Microsoft says files are encrypted in transit and at rest, which sounds solid. Still, I’m wary because it’s a Microsoft product—they’ve had data concerns in the past. The app also asks for permission to access your photos and contacts, which I get, but it feels invasive. On the plus side, there’s a “Personal Vault” feature for sensitive stuff like tax docs, which needs extra verification. I haven’t used it yet because it’s locked behind the paid tier. For now, I feel like my photos are safe from snoops, but I’m not convinced Microsoft isn’t scanning them for ads or whatever.
