For a casual listener who tunes into one airport once a week, probably not worth it—the website does the same thing for free. But for a power user like me who checks feeds daily, the convenience of a dedicated app with a search bar and favorites shortcut has value. That said, the crashes and the occasional dead feed make me cringe every time I open my wallet. I’d say it’s worth $4.99, not the $9.99 that some regions list. You’re basically paying for reliability that’s only 80% there. I still use it because I’m addicted, but I wouldn’t recommend it to a friend unless they’re a hardcore aviation nerd who can overlook jankiness.

I had to contact support after one particularly bad crash spree. The app froze, then wiped my entire favorites list—all 15 feeds gone. I emailed their support address on a Friday morning. For a paid app, I expect human support that actually tests a fix. The developer seems to push updates every few months, but they’re mostly bug fixes for stuff they broke last update. It gives me the feeling this is a side project, not a priority. If you run into a serious issue, don’t expect a quick resolution.

Privacy & Safety

The app asks for microphone access, which I denied because I don’t see why live ATC needs to hear me. It also wants location permissions for “nearby feeds.” I allowed that once, and it just showed me airports within 50 miles, but it drained my battery faster. The privacy policy is buried in the settings and is basically a generic template. They say they collect crash logs and usage data, but no mention of third-party sharing. I’m not thrilled that a niche app is harvesting any data at all. Since it’s a paid app, I’d prefer no telemetry except for error reports. I also noticed the app uses an embedded web view for some feeds, which could be a vector for tracking cookies if the feed source injects scripts. It’s probably safe enough, but if you’re paranoid, deny everything except audio playback. No login required, which is a plus—I don’t need an account to listen to planes. Just download and go.
