About Let’s Race!

As someone who burns through mobile games looking for one that sticks, I downloaded Let’s Race! with low expectations. To my surprise, it’s the racing app I keep coming back to. It’s not trying to be a console simulator, and that’s its strength. It’s a polished, fast-paced arcade racer that feels great in short bursts. I play a few races during my commute or while waiting for coffee, and it consistently delivers that “one more go” feeling without demanding hours of my time.

Features & Highlights

The car selection is decent, starting with a basic hatchback. I grinded my first few races to unlock the “Interceptor” sports car, and the upgrade system is straightforward. You earn coins per race to boost your engine, tires, and nitro. I found focusing on nitro first made races more exciting, letting me blast past opponents on the final straight. The three main tracks—desert canyon, neon city, and alpine pass—each have a distinct feel. The alpine track with its tight S-curves is where I test my handling upgrades. The daily challenge mode is a smart touch; yesterday’s was to win two races using a truck, which forced me to adapt my driving style and earned me a nice coin bonus.

User Experience

Jumping in is instant. I appreciate that I can race within 10 seconds of opening the app. The tilt controls are responsive, and I never feel like I’m fighting the phone’s gyro. A real “wow” moment was my first perfect drift around the canyon’s big banked turn; the screen flashed, my nitro bar filled instantly, and I shot into first place. It felt earned. The menus are clean, though sometimes navigating back to the main garage from a race result takes one too many taps. The sound design is good—the engine roars are punchy, and the menu music is a cheesy synth-rock track I’ve grown fond of.

Pricing

The game is free with ads and in-app purchases. Ads appear as optional 30-second videos for bonus coins or as a full-screen ad between every 3-4 races. It’s not overly intrusive. I’ve never felt pressured to spend money. The IAPs are for cosmetic skins and large coin packs to speed up upgrades. For a free game, the balance is fair. You can absolutely reach the top tier cars without paying a cent, it just takes time. I’d say it’s worth the price of free, and if you really get into it, the one-time $2.99 ad-removal pack is a reasonable purchase for uninterrupted play.

Updates & Support

Mr Vegies seems active. I’ve seen two minor updates in the month I’ve played, one that fixed a bug where the game would occasionally stutter on older devices (which solved my issue on my backup phone) and another that added a new “Weekly Time Trial” event. I had a problem where my progress didn’t sync after reinstalling, and I emailed support. I got a generic but helpful response within 48 hours guiding me through linking to my Google Play account, which fixed it. Not lightning fast, but they resolved it.

Security & Privacy

I downloaded it directly from the Google Play Store. The app asks for pretty standard permissions: network access for ads and leaderboards, and storage access to save your game data locally. I checked its “Data safety” section on the Play Store, and it states it does not collect any personal data like email or location. The ads are clearly served through networks, so they are tracking for ad purposes, but the app itself from Mr Vegies seems minimal. I haven’t noticed any shady redirects or excessive permission requests during my time with it.

Frequently asked questions
How do I unlock new cars and upgrade them in Let's Race!?

You start with a basic hatchback and earn coins by completing races. Save up to unlock cars like the 'Interceptor' sports car, then use those coins to upgrade your engine, tires, and nitro—focusing on nitro first can give you a big speed boost on the final straight.

What game modes and tracks are available in Let's Race!?

The game features three main tracks: desert canyon, neon city, and alpine pass, each with unique driving challenges like tight S-curves. There's also a daily challenge mode that tasks you with specific goals, such as winning two races using a truck, which rewards bonus coins and forces you to adapt your driving style.

Why do I sometimes have to tap multiple times to get back to the garage after a race?

This is a known minor navigation hiccup where the post-race screen requires an extra tap or two to return to the main garage. The developers are aware of it, and in the meantime, just tap the back button or menu icon a couple of times—it still works, it's just not as smooth as the rest of the experience.

The game shows ads—can I remove them, or are they mandatory?

Ads in Let's Race! are optional and appear as 30-second videos you can watch for bonus coins or rewards. You are never forced to watch an ad to play a race, so you can enjoy the game ad-free by simply skipping the optional video offers.

How does Let's Race! compare to other mobile racing games like Asphalt 9?

Unlike Asphalt 9, which aims for console-like graphics and complex progression, Let's Race! is a fast, arcade-style racer you can jump into in under 10 seconds. It focuses on quick, satisfying races with responsive tilt controls and a straightforward upgrade system, making it perfect for short play sessions rather than long grinding.

✓  Pros
✓ Offers quick, satisfying arcade-style races perfect for short sessions
✓ Upgrade system feels rewarding and directly impacts performance
✓ Controls are responsive and work well with tilt steering
✗  Cons
✗ Menus can be slightly clunky, requiring extra taps to navigate
✗ Ad between every few races can break the flow during a long play session
✗ Limited to three main environments, which can start to feel repetitive
