First Impression

I kept seeing clips of this game on my Twitter feed, so I finally caved and installed it on my Galaxy A54. The initial download was huge, which I guess makes sense for all the voice acting and animations. Right away, the game looks fantastic. The menus are slick, the characters look just like they do in the anime, and hearing the real Japanese voices is a huge plus. I was genuinely excited to jump in. That excitement lasted about ten minutes, until the game asked for its first round of permissions. It wanted access to my phone’s files and media, which felt odd for a turn-based RPG. I denied it, but that nagging feeling about what data it really wanted stuck with me from the start.

What It Does Well

When you get past the menus and into the actual game, it’s clear the developers love JJK. The turn-based combat is surprisingly strategic. You have to think about skill order and which cursed techniques combo well together. Pulling off a big move like Gojo’s Hollow Purple feels as powerful as it should. The “Parade” feature is honestly brilliant. Last Tuesday, I set it up before my evening class, and when I got home three hours later, my team had gathered a bunch of upgrade materials. It’s a great way to feel like you’re making progress even when you’re not actively grinding. The new story content is also a nice touch for fans who already know the main plot.

Where It Falls Short

The grind wall is real. I hit it hard around Chapter 5. My team just couldn’t keep up, and the game’s solution is to replay old stages for days to farm materials. The auto-battle helps, but it turns the game into a background chore. The gacha rates are brutal. After the initial freebies, getting a top-tier character feels nearly impossible. I saved up for two weeks, did a ten-pull on a Sunday afternoon hoping for a new character, and got nine duplicates of the same common unit I already had. It completely killed my motivation to play that day. Also, this app absolutely murders my battery. A 30-minute session can drain 15% easily.

Is It Worth the Price?

It’s free, so you can try it without spending a dime. The game gives you enough free currency early on to make a few decent pulls and get a feel for things. I never felt forced to pay to progress through the main story, just to do it at a reasonable pace. I did buy the $5 monthly pass once, and the daily trickle of resources was helpful. The bigger packs, some costing as much as a full console game, are clearly for people who want to bypass the grind entirely. For a casual fan, staying free is totally possible, but you need serious patience.

Developer & Support

My experience with BILIBILI support wasn’t great. I had an issue where a daily login reward didn’t show up in my inventory. I sent a message through the in-app support system with a screenshot. It took them four days to get back to me, and their response was a generic copy-paste about “ensuring a stable internet connection” that didn’t address my problem at all. I had to send two more follow-ups before someone actually looked at the screenshot. They fixed it eventually, but the whole process took over a week and felt like talking to a wall at first. It doesn’t inspire confidence if you have a real, complicated problem.

Privacy & Safety

This is my biggest hang-up. I always check app permissions, and this one asks for a lot. Why does a game about fighting curses need permission to “read the contents of your USB storage”? The privacy policy is a long, dense document that talks about collecting device identifiers, advertising IDs, and usage data for “analytics and personalized advertising.” I turned off personalized ads in my phone’s settings, but who knows if that actually stops the collection. The game runs fine with most permissions denied, which makes me question why they’re requested so aggressively in the first place. For someone who’s careful about this stuff, it leaves a bad taste.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Parade feature in Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade and how does it work?

The Parade feature lets you send your team on an automated mission to gather upgrade materials while you're away. You can set it up before a class or errand, and when you return a few hours later, your team will have collected useful resources, making it a great way to progress without active grinding.

Does the game require access to my phone's files and media to play?

The game asks for access to your phone's files and media during the initial setup, but you can deny this permission and still play the game. The request feels odd for a turn-based RPG, but it's likely related to saving game data or screenshots, and denying it doesn't stop you from enjoying the main experience.

Why does the game drain my battery so fast and how can I reduce it?

Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade is a heavy game with high-quality animations and voice acting, which can drain 15% of your battery in just 30 minutes. To reduce battery drain, lower the in-game graphics settings, turn off background app refresh, and play while plugged in if you're doing long sessions.

What should I do if my daily login reward doesn't show up in my inventory?

If a daily login reward goes missing, first try restarting the app and checking your inventory again. If it's still missing, contact BILIBILI support through the in-app system with a screenshot of the issue, but be prepared for slow or unhelpful responses based on user experiences.

How does Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade compare to other anime gacha RPGs like Genshin Impact?

Unlike Genshin Impact's open-world exploration and real-time combat, Phantom Parade focuses on turn-based strategy with a heavy emphasis on skill combos and auto-battle grinding. It's more linear and story-driven, but shares similar gacha mechanics and a steep grind wall, though it's easier to play in short bursts thanks to the Parade feature.
