I picked this up after my go-to puzzle app started crashing on my Galaxy S23. Three days in, and I’m already frustrated. The puzzle selection is huge—landscapes, animals, art—but the actual feel of moving pieces is laggy compared to what I’m used to. Last Tuesday night, I was trying to finish a 300-piece mountain scene, and the app froze twice while I was rotating a batch of edge pieces. That’s unacceptable on a flagship phone. I’m someone who completes a puzzle a day, and this app might not last the week. The daily puzzles are a nice hook, but the performance hiccups ruin the flow.

Features Worth Noting

The automatic edge sorting is a lifesaver—I don’t have to manually drag every border piece to the side. The preview image overlay is also handy when you’re stuck on a section of sky or grass. I like how you can adjust the piece count from 12 up to 400, so you can go from a quick 5-minute break to a serious hour-long session. The custom piece shapes add some variety, though they don’t always snap together cleanly. There’s a decent hint system that highlights where a piece goes, but it recharges slowly unless you watch an ad. The puzzle library updates weekly, and the HD images look sharp on my S23’s screen. Social sharing is there, but I don’t care about showing off to friends.

What Needs Work

The biggest issue for me is the piece manipulation. Dragging and rotating feels sluggish, with a noticeable half-second delay. I often accidentally drop a piece into the wrong spot because the touch response isn’t tight. The ads are invasive—every time you finish a puzzle or use a hint, you get a 30-second video. I get that it’s free, but it breaks immersion. Also, the app drains battery faster than comparable apps; after 45 minutes, my phone was warm and down 15%. The save system works, but it occasionally corrupts a puzzle if you close the app mid-solve. I had to restart a 200-piece puzzle from scratch yesterday. That burned me.

Pricing

It’s free with ads, which is standard. You can pay $4.99 a month or $29.99 yearly to remove ads and unlock all puzzle packs. I tried the free trial for one day. The ad-free experience is smoother, but I’m not convinced it’s worth the price when competitors offer better performance without a subscription. Some premium puzzle collections cost extra on top of the subscription, which feels greedy. If you’re just dabbling, the free version might work, but for daily use, the ads will drive you nuts.

Developer Notes

I reached out to support about the freeze issue on Wednesday. I got an automated reply promising a response in 24 hours. It’s now Friday, and nothing. Their FAQ is generic—no mention of S23-specific bugs or performance tips. The app last updated two months ago, so I’m not confident about quick fixes. For a 4.7-rated app, the developer seems slow to address real problems. They push new puzzle collections but ignore core stability.

Security & Privacy

The app asks for storage access to save puzzle progress. That’s expected. It also wants access to your photos for custom puzzles, which I declined—no reason to hand over my camera roll. The privacy policy says they collect device data and usage stats for ads, which is typical for a free app. No sketchy permissions beyond that, but I’d recommend not enabling custom puzzle uploads unless you trust them. On my S23, it didn’t try to access contacts or location, so that’s a plus.
