IELTS Exam Preparation

About IELTS Exam Preparation

My granddaughter, Sophie, is studying for her IELTS exam to go to university abroad. She was getting stressed with all her big textbooks, so I wanted to help. A friend from my book club mentioned this free app by CSUPPORTER. I downloaded it onto my Google Pixel phone about five weeks ago, thinking we could look at it together. I’m not one for fancy technology, but I was pleasantly surprised. It didn’t ask for any money upfront and it was easy to find what we needed. For a retiree like me trying to help, that was a huge relief. It became our little project every Sunday afternoon when she came over for tea.

Features & Highlights

The best part is the practice tests. They have separate ones for Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking, just like the real exam. Sophie and I would sit at the kitchen table, and she’d do a Reading test while I timed her with the app’s own timer. It felt very official. I also liked the vocabulary section. It’s just digital flashcards with simple sentences. Sometimes, while waiting for my bus on Tuesday mornings, I’d flip through a few words myself, just to keep up. The grammar quizzes are short, which is perfect because neither of us has a long attention span for drilling rules. The Speaking part has sample questions, but it’s a bit passive—you can’t record your own voice to hear how you sound.

User Experience

Let me be clear: this app won’t win any beauty contests. The screens are very plain, with lots of text and basic buttons. But you know what? That’s why I liked it. I never got lost or had to ask Sophie how to get back to the main menu. Everything is right where you’d expect it to be. After Sophie finished a test, the app would show her score right away and, more importantly, explain why she got certain answers wrong. That instant feedback was a real help. One weekend, she did a full Listening and Reading test back-to-back, and the app handled it without a hiccup. It’s not flashy, but it works exactly how it says it will.

Pricing

This is the app’s strongest point. It is completely free. No sneaky pop-ups asking for money, no “premium” sections locked away. After you download it, everything is yours to use. Compared to the expensive course books Sophie was looking at, this felt like a gift. You’re investing your time, not your pension. For a free tool, the amount of practice material you get is honestly quite generous. It allowed us to focus on studying without worrying about the cost.

Updates & Support

I’ve had the app for over a month now, and I did see one small update that said it fixed some bugs. It’s been stable on my phone. I haven’t had any reason to contact support myself, thank goodness. I did glance at the reviews on the Play Store, and some people mentioned getting help from the developer when they had problems. That’s good to know, but I prefer apps that just work so I don’t have to deal with all that.

Security & Privacy

This is always on my mind. The app doesn’t ask for much when you install it. It doesn’t need access to my contacts or photos, which I appreciate. I didn’t have to create an account with my email, so that’s one less thing to worry about. My granddaughter’s practice scores and progress seem to just stay on my phone. It feels like a private, self-contained tool, which is exactly how I like it.
