First Impression

I gave this app a try after my neighbor Dave (he runs a small handyman business) said he used it to track his supply deliveries and liked it. So I figured, why not test it out for a family package we were expecting from my sister in Ohio last month. The download was quick on my Pixel 7 and the setup asked me to make an account and put in my address. Honestly, the first screen felt a little cluttered with all the 3D map stuff spinning around. I just wanted to see where my package was, not watch a little animation of a truck driving through a city. But after poking around for ten minutes I figured out how to enter the tracking number. The real-time updates popped up pretty fast, which was nice. The 3D map part seemed more like a visual toy than something useful for a regular parent like me. I just want to know if my package is out for delivery or stuck at the depot, not see a digital model of my neighborhood.

What It Does Well

Once you get past the initial learning curve, the tracking notifications are actually pretty solid. Last Tuesday, I got an alert that the package from my sister was “out for delivery” and a second notification when it was dropped off at the front porch. I liked that part. The app also let me set a “secure drop-off location” which for me meant “behind the big potted plant on the porch” so the mail carrier didn’t just leave it in the rain. That worked great. The payment system for scheduling a new delivery was straightforward, too. I sent a small package to my mom for her birthday last week and the payment went through in seconds with Google Pay. No weird fees or hidden charges that I could see. The 3D tracking did show a little truck moving along a virtual street, and it was kind of fun to show my kids, but honestly I don’t think that feature makes the app better. It’s just a gimmick that eats battery on my phone. Still, if you just need to track one thing and want updates to your lock screen, it gets the job done without much fuss.

Where It Falls Short

Here’s the big problem for me. The app seems designed more for delivery drivers than for regular folks like me who just want to get a package. The description talks about “complex urban environments” but I live in a normal suburb with straight roads. The 3D map kept turning on by default and made my phone hot after about fifteen minutes of use. One afternoon I had the app open while waiting for a grocery delivery (different service, but I was testing the map) and my battery dropped from 60% to 30% in under an hour. That’s not okay. Also, the customization options for deliveries are kind of limited. You can schedule a time window but it’s only two options: morning or afternoon. No specific hour. I needed it to arrive at 2 PM while I was home from work and that wasn’t possible. The availability issue is real too. I tried to send a package to my brother in rural Minnesota and the app said it wasn’t available there yet. So it’s not a full replacement for the big shipping companies. And that 3D tracking? My sister’s package from Ohio showed the truck going through a completely different state than what the actual tracking from the carrier said. So either the map is faking it or the data is wrong. Either way, it makes you wonder.

Is It Worth the Price?

The app is free to download, so it’s not like you’re losing money just trying it out. But if you’re paying for delivery services through the app, you want to know you’re getting something better than what USPS or FedEx already offer for free. In my experience, the tracking updates from Deliver It 3D weren’t faster or more accurate than just using the carrier’s own website. The 3D map is neat for a minute but then you realize it’s just eye candy. If the app charged a subscription fee I wouldn’t pay for it. For a one-off delivery, it’s fine. I’d use it again if I needed to send a package to a place that’s supported, but I wouldn’t make it my go-to. My kid asked me “Is the truck really driving through our street?” and I had to tell him no, it’s just a picture. So for families, it’s a decent toy but not a serious tool.

Developer & Support

The developer is VOODOO, which I later realized makes a lot of those casual games you see in ads. That explains why the app feels more like a game than a utility. I contacted support once because my tracking number wasn’t showing up for a package I expected. I submitted a request through the in-app chat on a Wednesday. Didn’t hear back until Saturday afternoon. That’s three days, which feels slow when you’re waiting for a package and don’t know if it’s lost. The response was helpful though. A person (not a bot) named Jessie told me the number format was for a different carrier and helped me convert it. So the support knowledge is good but the speed needs work. I wish they had a phone number to call, especially for urgent delivery issues.

Privacy & Safety

This is my biggest concern as a parent. The app asks for your location, camera, and storage permissions right away. It says it uses location for “3D mapping” but I don’t see why my GPS needs to be on when I’m just tracking a package. I turned off location after the first week and the app still worked fine for tracking, so why ask for it? There’s also no clear privacy policy that I could find in the app settings. I had to go to the developer’s website and dig through a PDF. It says they collect browsing data and device info, which makes me uneasy with my kids using the phone. I’d recommend keeping an eye on what permissions you grant, and maybe don’t let your kids play with the 3D map toy without supervision. I won’t be putting this on my child’s tablet.
