About Craft Sword 3D: Monster Hunt

I downloaded Craft Sword 3D on a whim, expecting another generic crafting game. A week later, I was still sneaking in quick hunts during my lunch break. It’s a free app from Volodymyr Pukha that perfectly marries the chill creativity of building your own gear with the thrill of taking that gear out for a test run against some genuinely tough monsters. It’s become my go-to for a 20-minute escape.

Features & Highlights

The core loop is what makes it work. You gather wood and ore from the environment, then head to the forge. I spent way too long crafting a spiked broadsword, and the game actually lets you feel the difference in weight and speed when you swing it. The monster designs are great—the first time a forest troll charged me, I actually fumbled my phone. The daily challenge to slay three lava beasts with a fire-resistant shield pushed me to upgrade my crafting strategy, which felt rewarding. Teaming up with a friend to take down a giant ice wyrm was chaotic and awesome, and we split the rare gems it dropped.

User Experience

Jumping in was easy. The controls are simple swipes and taps, so I was fighting and crafting within minutes. I remember one specific evening: I’d just forged a new dual-bladed axe and immediately took it to the dark forest. The way the weapon’s trail effect lit up the foggy trees was cool, but the fight with the glowing wolf pack was intense—I had to time my dodges perfectly. My phone (a two-year-old mid-range model) handled the 3D graphics without any stuttering, which was a relief. The menu for upgrading gear is a bit cluttered, though, and I sometimes tap the wrong material.

Pricing

The game is completely free to download and play. You can earn all crafting materials and blueprints by just playing. There are optional ads to double your reward after a hunt, which I sometimes watch, and a shop for buying cosmetic skins or resource packs with real money. I’ve never felt pressured to spend; my progress never hit a paywall. For a free game, the amount of content here is more than fair.

Updates & Support

I’ve had the app for about a month and have seen one content update that added a new desert region with scorpion monsters. The developer seems active. I once had a bug where a quest wouldn’t complete, so I emailed the support address listed in the app’s settings. I got a generic “we’re looking into it” reply the next day, and the issue was fixed in the following weekly patch. It’s not hand-holding support, but they do address problems.

Security & Privacy

I got it directly from the Google Play Store. The app asks for pretty standard permissions for a mobile game—storage to save your progress and network access for the optional multiplayer mode. The privacy policy, which I skimmed, says they collect gameplay data for analytics and show personalized ads. The ads are banner-style at the menu and occasional short videos for bonuses, not overly intrusive. I haven’t noticed any shady redirects or excessive tracking prompts.
