About CoinIn

As someone who dabbles in crypto, I was tired of using one app for prices, another for news, and a spreadsheet for my portfolio. I downloaded CoinIn on a friend’s recommendation, and after a few months, it’s become my go-to hub for everything crypto. It’s not a magic money-maker, but it consolidates the chaos of the market into one surprisingly clean interface.

Features & Highlights

The portfolio tracker is the star for me. I manually added my holdings from Coinbase and a cold wallet, and now I have a single screen showing my total balance, 24-hour change, and which of my coins are pumping or dumping. The price alert feature saved me last week; I set one for Ethereum dipping below a certain point, got the notification while I was making coffee, and was able to place a buy order in under a minute. I also find myself checking the aggregated news feed daily—it pulls from decent sources and saves me from scrolling through ten different crypto Twitter accounts.

User Experience

The first launch was straightforward. I remember being pleasantly surprised that I didn’t need to watch a tutorial video just to find the chart for Bitcoin. Adding my first transaction (a purchase of Solana I made on another exchange) felt intuitive. A specific moment that sold me was during a big market swing. I opened CoinIn and could immediately see my entire portfolio’s value in red, but with one tap I could drill down to see which specific asset was dragging me down the most. The charts are simple but effective for checking support/resistance levels, and I haven’t experienced any lag, even when the market gets volatile.

Pricing

CoinIn is completely free to download and use for all its core features: portfolio tracking, price alerts, basic charts, and news. There’s no tier I’ve been pushed towards or essential features locked behind a paywall. You can connect your exchange accounts for automatic syncing (which I haven’t tried for security preferences), but manual entry works perfectly fine. For a free app, the value is exceptional. I haven’t felt the need for a “pro” version, which is rare.

Updates & Support

I get an update notification roughly every 3-4 weeks. The changelogs are actually helpful—things like “Improved chart loading speed” or “Added support for [new coin].” I had one issue where an altcoin’s logo wasn’t displaying. I used the in-app support chat, and a real person responded within a few hours, acknowledged the bug, and it was fixed in the next update. That level of attention for a free app was impressive.

Security & Privacy

I downloaded CoinIn directly from the Google Play Store. Crucially, I only use it as a tracker and viewer. I don’t use its built-in wallet features or connect my live exchange APIs—I manually input my trades. This is my personal preference for any portfolio app. The privacy policy states they collect usage data for analytics, which is standard. I do see occasional banner ads at the bottom of the news feed, but they’re for other finance apps and aren’t intrusive or video-based. No major privacy red flags for my use case.
