They refill over time or you can ask friends for more. I don’t have many friends who play so I just wait.

Last Saturday morning my kid woke me up at 6 AM. Way too early. I grabbed my phone and opened Charm King while lying on the couch. Played for maybe an hour before everyone else got up. That’s my usual routine now. I also play during lunch breaks in the break room at work. Some of the other guys play shooting games but I like something slower. Here’s a specific moment that comes to mind. I was on level 276 last Wednesday night around 10 PM. I was stuck on it for three days. My cat jumped on my lap and I almost dropped my phone. Then somehow I made this crazy chain reaction with a rainbow charm and passed the level. I actually yelled “yes” kind of loud and scared the cat. That’s the kind of feeling this game gives you. It just tempts you. If you’re someone with zero patience you might end up spending money. For me the free experience is totally fine. I’d rather wait for my lives to refill than throw cash at it.

The game gets new levels added pretty often. I think there’s been two updates since I started playing. They add like 30-50 new levels each time. I haven’t had to contact support so I can’t say much about that. But looking at the app store reviews people mostly complain about losing progress or glitches. I haven’t run into anything like that on my Galaxy S23. Runs smooth. No crashes. Battery drain isn’t bad either. I did accidentally buy something once with in-game currency because the button placement was too easy to tap. That was annoying but it was my fault. No big deal.

Look I don’t really read privacy policies. It’s a free game so obviously they’re collecting something. Probably your data for ads. You get video ads sometimes that you can watch for extra lives or boosters. That’s fine by me. The ads are usually 15-30 seconds and you can skip most of them. I’d rather watch a short ad than pay money. I have location services turned off for it and it still works fine. Nothing sketchy has happened. No weird permissions requests. It just asks for storage access to save your progress. That’s all.
