Substack
Can I customize the reading experience in Substack?
Yes, you can tweak the font and spacing, and switch to a dark theme for reading in bed. This makes it easy to personalize the app for comfortable reading anytime.
Does Substack support offline reading?
Yes, you can download posts ahead of time to read without an internet connection. This is great for commutes or places with spotty signal, like the subway.
Why can't I find new writers to follow in the Substack app?
The app’s discovery section is quite barebones compared to the website, making it harder to browse for new writers. For a better exploration experience, try using the Substack website instead.
How do I control notifications in Substack so I'm not overwhelmed?
You can tightly manage notifications by only enabling alerts for specific writers you never want to miss. This keeps the app quiet and focused on what matters to you.
How does Substack compare to a free newsletter app like Revue?
Substack offers a cleaner, ad-free reading experience with offline downloads and chat features, while Revue (now part of Twitter) focuses more on email list management and social integration. Substack is better for pure reading, but Revue is stronger for writers who want to leverage a social media audience.
