About Pose: AI Video Maker, AI Photo
I’ll be honest, I downloaded Pose on a whim. My camera roll was full of decent but boring clips from a weekend trip, and I wanted to make a cool recap video for my friends without it taking all night. As someone who gets lost in complicated editing apps, I needed something simple but powerful. Pose promised exactly that: an AI helper to do the heavy lifting. After using it for a few weeks to spice up my social posts and even some family photo albums, I’m genuinely impressed by how much it can do.
Features & Highlights
The AI background changer is the star for me. I took a selfie in my messy living room, and with one tap, Pose dropped me onto a tropical beach. It’s not perfect—the edges around my hair were a bit fuzzy—but for a quick, fun post, it’s amazing. The template library is huge. I found a specific template for “Coffee Vlogs” that I used for a silly morning routine video, and it had all the text animations and transitions built in. I just swapped in my clips. The music library is also a lifesaver; I found a chill acoustic track for a birthday montage that didn’t get flagged by Instagram. I don’t use all the flashy effects, but the smart color correction consistently makes my dim indoor shots look bright and clear.
User Experience
My first project was that weekend trip video. I was expecting a learning curve, but the “Create” button is right in the middle of the home screen. I picked a “Travel Memories” template, selected 15 clips from my gallery, and the app arranged them into a sequence automatically. This is where I had my “wow” moment. The AI suggested a pacing for the clips and even picked highlight moments. I swapped the music, added a few stickers (the animated plane flying across the screen was a nice touch), and tapped “Export.” Within ten minutes, I had a polished 60-second video. The interface is so intuitive that I never had to Google how to do something. Dragging and dropping elements feels natural, and nothing is buried in complicated menus.
Pricing
The app is free to download and use, which is fantastic. You get access to most templates, the core AI tools (like background removal and basic filters), and the music library. Where they get you is with the “Pro” templates and some of the more advanced AI features, like ultra-HD upscaling or removing watermarks from exports. A weekly subscription is pretty steep, but they offer a reasonable yearly option if you plan to use it often. For my needs—making a few fun videos and edited photos a week—the free version has been totally sufficient. I’d only go Pro if I started creating content more seriously.
Updates & Support
I’ve noticed an update about once a month, usually adding new templates or tweaking existing features. Last month, they added a bunch of Halloween-themed packs right on time. I had one issue where an export failed, so I used the in-app chat support. I got a real person responding within a few hours, and they asked for a screen recording, which was smart. The problem was solved the next day. It’s clear they’re actively developing the app, which gives me confidence it won’t just be abandoned.
Security & Privacy
I downloaded Pose directly from the Google Play Store. Their privacy policy is pretty standard for a free, ad-supported editor. They collect usage data to improve the app and show personalized ads within the app itself. The ads are banners and occasional short video ads between exports—a bit annoying but not intrusive. I appreciate that you can start a project without making an account, but to save projects or sync across devices, you need to sign in with Google or email. I didn’t see any shady permission requests; it just needs access to your photos/videos and camera, which is obviously necessary for it to function.
