About Poppy Playtime Chapter 4

As a long-time fan of the series, I was both excited and dreading the release of Chapter 4. Having just spent a weekend crawling through its new areas, I can say Mob Entertainment hasn’t lost their touch for crafting a genuinely unsettling atmosphere. This chapter picks up right where the last one left you hanging, pushing you further into the decaying heart of Playtime Co. I felt a real sense of progression, not just in the story but in the complexity of the challenges thrown at me.

Features & Highlights

This chapter introduces a new core mechanic involving a gadget that had me rethinking how I interacted with the entire environment—I won’t spoil it, but it’s a game-changer for the puzzles. The new antagonist, which I’ll just call “The Prototype” to avoid spoilers, is a massive leap in threat level. Its AI felt unpredictable; there was one moment where I hid in a locker, sure I was safe, only for its distorted face to suddenly fill the air vent, forcing me to scramble out in a panic. The environmental storytelling is also top-notch. I spent ten minutes just in a ruined employee break room, reading notes and looking at faded posters, piecing together the company’s final days.

User Experience

Playing on my phone, the controls took a minute to get used to, especially during the more frantic chase sequences. There was a particular puzzle in the Maintenance Sector that had me stumped for a good twenty minutes. It involved redirecting power through broken conduits, and I had to physically sketch the solution on a notepad before it clicked. That “aha!” moment was incredibly satisfying. The sound design is what really sells the horror. I was wearing headphones, and the distant, dragging metal sounds and distorted nursery rhymes made me constantly spin my camera around, paranoid something was right behind me. The jump scares are fewer but more earned, which I appreciated.

Pricing

At $4.99, this is a premium purchase for a mobile game, but it’s not a microtransaction-filled freemium title. You’re buying a complete, dense chunk of story and gameplay that took me about 4-5 hours to finish, and I explored thoroughly. Compared to the price of a coffee, the amount of tension and puzzle-solving entertainment here feels worth it for horror fans. You do need to have purchased the previous chapters separately, so keep that in mind if you’re new.

Updates & Support

Mob Entertainment has been pretty consistent with post-launch support for previous chapters, squashing bugs and occasionally adding small quality-of-life features based on player feedback. I had one minor audio glitch during my playthrough that was fixed after a restart. Their social media channels are active, and they do seem to listen to the community—earlier chapter updates addressed some control complaints, which have been improved here.

Security & Privacy

I downloaded the app directly from the official Google Play Store. The app requires permissions for storage (to save your game progress) and network access (likely for checking updates or analytics). The privacy policy states they collect some anonymous gameplay data for improvement purposes. Crucially, there are zero ads during gameplay, which is essential for immersion in a horror title. I didn’t encounter any pushy prompts for tracking or data sharing, which was a relief.
