About PokeRaid
I’ve been playing Pokémon GO since launch, and my biggest frustration has always been trying to coordinate raid battles. Living in a suburban area, it was nearly impossible to find enough people for a five-star raid. I downloaded PokeRaid out of desperation, and it completely solved that problem. This free app is built by Pyde Technologies LTD specifically to connect Pokémon GO trainers for raids. Instead of hoping people show up at a gym, I can now see active raids worldwide and join a group in seconds. It turned raid hour from a lonely exercise into something I genuinely look forward to.
Features & Highlights
The core feature is the raid lobby browser. I can filter for a specific Pokémon, like a new legendary, and see dozens of open lobbies with timers showing how long until they start. Each lobby shows how many trainers have joined, so I know if we’ll have enough firepower. The in-app chat for each lobby is essential. I’ve used it to ask people to wait a moment while I grab a remote raid pass, or to coordinate using same-type attack bonuses. The auto-match feature is great when I’m feeling lazy—it just drops me into the next available lobby for the raid boss I select. I also rely on the raid boss calendar to plan my week, especially for limited-time events.
User Experience
My first successful raid with PokeRaid was for a Shadow Mewtwo. I was skeptical, joining a lobby with five strangers from different countries. We jumped into the chat, shared our friend codes, and someone took charge calling out when to start. We beat it with over half the time left, and the rush was incredible. The interface is straightforward; the main screen is just the list of lobbies, and everything is one or two taps away. I did have one moment where the app froze when trying to join a full lobby, but force-closing and reopening it fixed it. Most of the time, it’s remarkably smooth for connecting people globally in real-time.
Pricing
PokeRaid is free to download and use for its core functions: browsing lobbies, chatting, and joining raids. They have a premium currency called “Auto-join Tickets” that lets you skip the manual lobby refresh and get placed automatically, which is handy for super-popular raids. You can earn a few tickets by watching ads or completing tasks, but serious users will likely buy packs. I’ve never felt pressured to pay; the free version has given me everything I need to raid daily. For a free app, the value is outstanding.
Updates & Support
The developers update the app frequently, usually right before or during a big Pokémon GO event to ensure new raid bosses are correctly listed. I once had an issue where my friend code wasn’t copying correctly into the chat. I used the in-app support form and got a helpful, non-automated reply within 24 hours walking me through a fix. The app also has a very active subreddit and Discord server run by the community, which is often faster for getting quick answers about raid strategies or bug reports.
Security & Privacy
You download PokeRaid directly from the official Google Play or Apple App Store. It requires your Pokémon GO friend code and trainer name to function, which is expected for coordination. The privacy policy states they collect basic usage data and device info for functionality and ads. The ads are present but not overly intrusive—mostly banners at the bottom of the screen and optional video ads for rewards. I’ve never noticed any shady tracking or had security concerns. Just remember, as with any app that facilitates communication with strangers, be smart and don’t share personal information in the chats.
