Opera News: Breaking Local & US Headlines
How do I adjust the text size in Opera News for easier reading?
Open the app's settings menu and look for the display or font size option. On a Google Pixel 7, you can increase the text size there to make articles easier on aging eyes. This setting helps you read headlines and stories without straining.
Can I customize the news categories to see more local news and fewer celebrity stories?
Yes, you can turn off personalized recommendations for certain topics in the settings to reduce unwanted content like celebrity slideshows. The app also lets you swipe between clearly labeled categories like local news, weather, and sports, so you can focus on what matters most.
Why does Opera News keep asking me to sign in again even after I checked 'remember me'?
This is a known glitch that may happen every few months, likely due to session timeouts or app updates. To minimize this, ensure you're using the latest version of the app and try clearing the cache in your phone's settings if the issue persists.
How can I stop the back button from taking me to the top of the feed instead of the previous article?
This is a common navigation issue in Opera News. As a workaround, try using the on-screen 'back' arrow within the app instead of your phone's hardware back button. If the problem continues, consider reporting it to the developer through the app's feedback option.
How does Opera News compare to other free news apps like Google News for a non-technical user?
Opera News is simpler and more straightforward for basic local and national headlines, with clearly labeled categories and a free price tag. Google News offers more customization and fewer clickbait stories, but Opera News is easier to navigate for users who just want quick weather updates and local events without complex menus.
