Can I listen to my local NPR station live with this app?
Yes, the NPR app provides flawless live streaming of any local NPR station. This feature works reliably, even in demanding situations like mobile data use in traffic.
Does the NPR app have a sleep timer and custom playlists?
Yes, the app includes a reliable sleep timer and a custom playlist feature. You can queue episodes from different shows for uninterrupted listening during commutes or other activities.
Why can't I find my subscribed podcasts easily in the app?
Many users report that the recent redesign buried the 'Podcasts' section. It is now located under a 'Shows' tab in the bottom menu, which can be less intuitive than the previous layout.
What should I do if a downloaded episode won't play offline?
This is a known bug. Contacting NPR support can resolve the issue, though response times may be slow. In one user's experience, support provided a helpful solution after a four-day wait.
How does the NPR app compare to third-party podcast apps for finding shows?
Unlike some third-party apps that prioritize a simple list of subscriptions, the NPR app's interface pushes curated 'For You' feeds and topic channels. This can feel cluttered if you prefer direct, algorithm-free access to your favorite shows.
