About MePic-AI Photo Editor, Video
As someone who posts a lot on Instagram but hates complicated editing suites, I was skeptical about another “AI-powered” app. I downloaded MePic on a whim to fix some dim restaurant photos from a recent trip. Honestly, I was just looking for a quick filter fix, but I ended up sticking with it for most of my editing. It’s become my go-to for everything from brightening up a selfie to putting together a quick video montage for my stories.
Features & Highlights
The AI enhancement tool is where this app really won me over. I had a group photo where my friend’s face was in shadow. Instead of manually playing with sliders for ten minutes, I tapped the AI button and it balanced the light on her face perfectly while keeping the sunny background from blowing out. It feels less like magic and more like having a helpful assistant. The background remover is shockingly good for a free tool—I used it to put my cat on a tropical beach for a funny post, and the cutout was clean around his fur. The video editor is basic but gets the job done; I regularly use it to trim clips, add a song from my library, and throw on a consistent filter across different shots for my Reels.
User Experience
Opening the app, you’re greeted with a clean “Camera” and “Gallery” option, which I appreciate. No overwhelming dashboard. The interface is intuitive; tools are where you’d expect them. I remember the first time I made a collage. I selected four vacation pics, chose a template that didn’t crop them weirdly, and had a shareable layout in under a minute. The one-tap sharing to Instagram is a small thing, but it removes that final friction of saving and then opening another app. My main gripe is that some of the more artistic filters and premium graphics are locked behind a paywall, which pops up just as you’re getting into a flow.
Pricing
MePic is free to download and use, which is fantastic. The core AI enhancer, basic filters, collage maker, and video trimmer are all completely free. Where they get you is with the “Pro” filters, the more elaborate sticker packs, and removing watermarks on some exports. There’s a weekly subscription or a lifetime purchase. For my casual use, the free version covers about 90% of what I need. If I were a small business owner creating daily product shots, I’d probably consider the lifetime deal for the watermark removal alone.
Updates & Support
I’ve noticed an update roughly every month or so, often adding a handful of new filters or tweaking the AI model. I once had an issue where a video export failed. I used the in-app support form, and to my surprise, I got a helpful, non-automated reply from a human within 24 hours with steps that actually fixed the problem. The developer, Ocean Float Mobile, seems active in responding to reviews on the app store as well, which is a good sign.
Security & Privacy
I downloaded MePic directly from the official Google Play Store. The app does serve ads, mostly as banners at the bottom or short videos between certain actions. It requests access to your photos/media, camera, and microphone—which is standard for any editing app. Their privacy policy states they collect usage data for analytics but claim they don’t sell personal data to third parties. For peace of mind, I don’t use it to edit anything super sensitive, just my social media content.
