When my bloodwork came back, I got a notification and could see the PDF report with my doctor’s notes attached, which helped me understand the numbers before my follow-up call.
I also use the prescription refill feature religiously. A few taps and my request is sent directly to my pharmacy—no more hold music. For wellness, I connected my step counter, and the app gently nudges me if I’ve been inactive. While I don’t use all the wellness challenges, the mental health section has some great, short breathing exercises I’ve used before stressful work meetings.
User Experience
Logging in for the first time was straightforward with my existing patient account. The home screen is clean, showing my next appointment, recent test results, and a health summary tile. I remember the first time I tried to message my doctor’s nurse; I found the “Messages” section easily and got a reply later that same day, which felt incredibly efficient.
However, it’s not all perfect. There was one Saturday when I needed to find a specific immunization record for my child’s school forms. I knew it was in there, but navigating to the “Health Record” section and then drilling down through “Preventive Care” felt a bit like a scavenger hunt. The menu structure can be deep, and it took me a few tries to find things like the patient education articles. Once you learn where everything lives, it’s fine, but there’s a slight learning curve.

The app is completely free to download and use. There are no subscription tiers or in-app purchases. The value comes from being an existing patient of Advocate Aurora Health—it’s essentially a free extension of their services. For me, the convenience it provides is absolutely worth it, as it saves me considerable time and hassle. You won’t get any core medical functionality without being a patient in their system, though.
Updates & Support
I get an update for the app every month or two, usually with minor bug fixes or small interface tweaks. A major update last fall significantly improved the loading speed of the test results section. As for support, I’ve only needed it once when I was locked out of my account. I used the “Help” link within the app, which directed me to a web form. I received an email response from a real person within 24 hours, and they resolved my issue. It wasn’t instant, but it was effective.
Security & Privacy
I downloaded the app directly from the official Apple App Store. Since it handles sensitive medical data, security is a top concern. The app uses strong encryption and requires multi-factor authentication to log in from a new device, which I appreciate. According to their privacy policy, my health data is not sold or used for advertising. The data stays within the Advocate Aurora Health system to facilitate my care. I haven’t encountered any ads within the app, which makes sense given its medical purpose.
