Hoop Land
How does the live map feature work in Hoop Land?
The live map shows basketball courts near you with icons and numbers indicating how many players have checked in or plan to show up. You can quickly see if a court is active before deciding to drive across town, so you never waste a trip.
Can I communicate with other players before heading to a game?
Yes, Hoop Land includes a simple in-app chat for each game where you can confirm attendance, let others know if you're running late, and even throw in some friendly trash talk. It helps coordinate runs without needing to exchange phone numbers.
Why does the check-in sometimes not work, and how can I fix it?
The check-in requires you to be physically on the court for the GPS to register, so if you're standing at the edge or in the parking lot, it might not recognize you. Try moving closer to the center of the court and ensure your location services are enabled.
The app says there are players checked in, but no one shows up. What should I do?
This can happen if people check in early but change plans without updating their status. Use the in-app chat to confirm who's actually coming before you leave, and check the 'Games Forming' list for games with recent activity or multiple confirmations.
How does Hoop Land compare to apps like Meetup or TeamSnap for finding pickup games?
Unlike general event apps, Hoop Land is built specifically for basketball, so you get a live map of courts, player skill levels, and real-time check-ins without any fluff. It's more focused and immediate for finding a game right now, while Meetup and TeamSnap require more planning and group management.
