Enigma: What’s that in the Sky
How does the augmented reality sky map work in Enigma?
You simply point your phone's camera at the sky, and Enigma overlays constellation lines, planet names, and star labels in real time. It's great for identifying bright objects like Venus, but on some devices the AR tracking can be a bit jittery and slow to respond.
Can I use Enigma offline, and does it have event notifications?
Yes, you can pre-download star data for offline use, which worked perfectly during a trip to a remote state park. The app also sends push notifications for events like ISS flyovers, so you won't miss a good viewing opportunity.
Why is the AR tracking jittery or lagging on my iPhone?
This is a known issue where the labels wobble and lag about half a second behind your movement, making precise identification tricky. It's likely a software optimization problem that the developer needs to address for smoother performance.
I posted a question in the community feature but got no response. Is this normal?
Unfortunately, the community feature can be quite inactive, with some questions going unanswered for over a week. The app feels isolated in this regard, so you're better off using external forums for quick help.
How does Enigma compare to paid apps like SkyView or Star Walk?
Enigma is free and offers a solid core AR experience with event alerts and offline mode, but it lacks the polish of paid apps. Competitors like SkyView have smoother AR tracking and more active communities, though you'll have to pay for those features.
