About CorrectPay

As someone who’s had paychecks come up short before, I downloaded CorrectPay by VendEngine hoping for a simple way to double-check my hours and wages. It’s a free app, so my expectations were realistic, but I wanted to see if it could give me some peace of mind. After using it for a few pay cycles at my part-time job, I have a pretty clear picture of what it does well and where it stumbles.

Features & Highlights

The core feature is the time tracker. You punch in and out, log breaks, and it calculates your total hours. I set my hourly rate, and it spit out my estimated pay, which was handy. I could add a one-time bonus from last month, which it factored in. The payday reminders are a nice touch—I got a notification two days before my direct deposit was supposed to hit, which actually helped me budget for a weekend trip.

For employees, there’s a self-service section where you can supposedly update your contact info. I tried to change my address, but it just showed a message saying to contact my employer’s HR, which felt a bit pointless. The reporting section is basic; I could export a simple CSV of my hours, which I used to compare against my official pay stub.

User Experience

Let’s talk about the good first. Logging my hours was straightforward. The main screen is just a big “Clock In” button. I used it during a busy retail shift, and it was simple enough to tap during a quick bathroom break. Seeing my projected earnings update in real-time after adding some overtime felt satisfying and motivating.

Now, the not-so-good. The app crashed on me twice when switching between the time sheet and the pay calculator. I also noticed the automatic break deduction sometimes glitched if I forgot to punch out for lunch and then corrected it later. One Friday, the payday alert never came, which was the one day I was really waiting for it. The interface looks dated, like an old website shrunk down to phone size, and scrolling isn’t always smooth on my relatively new phone.

Pricing

The app is completely free to download and use. There are no in-app purchases or subscription tiers that I could find. For a free tool, the basic time and wage tracking functionality offers decent value. You’re not paying for it, so you can’t expect perfection, but it does the main thing it promises. Is it worth it? For a free app to catch major payroll errors, yes. As your sole, flawless HR tool, no.

Updates & Support

Looking at the update history in the app store, VendEngine pushes an update roughly every 2-3 months, usually tagged with “bug fixes and performance improvements.” I haven’t seen a major feature overhaul in the last year. As for support, it’s virtually non-existent for the end-user like me. There’s a generic “Contact Us” form buried in the settings, but no live chat or clear help articles. This feels very much like an app provided by an employer, where your company’s HR is supposed to be your support.

Security & Privacy

I downloaded CorrectPay from the official Google Play Store. The app requires a pretty significant set of permissions, including precise location, which it says is for geofenced clock-ins if your employer sets that up. The privacy policy is a standard legalese document stating they collect your login data, device info, and the payroll data you input. I didn’t encounter any ads within the app, which is a big plus. However, the data you’re putting in is extremely sensitive—your hours, pay rate, and employer info. The fact that the app feels a bit buggy and the support is absent doesn’t inspire huge confidence, even if there haven’t been any publicized breaches.
