About Blue Mountain Ecards
I’ve always been terrible at remembering to send cards, so I downloaded the Blue Mountain Ecards app hoping it could help me stay on top of birthdays and anniversaries. I’ve been testing it for a few months now, sending cards for my mom’s birthday, a friend’s promotion, and even a few “just because” notes. It’s not just a digital card catalog; it feels like a little creative studio in my pocket that helps me add a personal touch when I can’t be there in person.
Features & Highlights
The card library is massive. I found myself scrolling through categories like “Thank You” and “Get Well” for way longer than I expected because the animated designs are genuinely charming—some have cute little animals, others have elegant motion graphics. The customization is where it shines for me. For my nephew’s birthday card, I picked a cartoon dinosaur theme, uploaded a silly photo of him from last summer, and typed in a goofy inside joke as the message. Being able to pair it with a snippet of upbeat music from their library made it feel complete. The scheduling feature is my lifesaver; I set up three Mother’s Day cards in early May and forgot about them until I got texts from my aunts thanking me for remembering.
User Experience
Navigating the app is straightforward. The main menu lets you jump straight into creating a card or checking your scheduled list. I remember one evening I had only five minutes before my book club started, and I still managed to find a funny “Miss You” card, add a quick selfie with my cat, and send it to a friend who’d moved away. The process felt fluid, not rushed. On the receiving end, my sister told me the notification that her card was “opened” gave her a little thrill, and I like that I can see that status too—it’s nice to know a card was received and not lost in a spam folder.
Pricing
The app is free to download and use for a solid selection of cards. I’ve sent probably a dozen using just the free tier. However, I noticed the really standout, elaborate animated cards and some of the better music tracks are marked as “Premium.” They push their subscription pretty hard, which is about $20 a year. For a casual user like me, the free version is perfectly adequate. But if you send ecards frequently for business or have a huge family, the subscription might be worth it for the exclusive designs and to remove the occasional banner ad.
Updates & Support
I get an update notification every month or two, usually adding new card packs for upcoming holidays. After one update, my scheduled cards list glitched and disappeared. I used the in-app support form, and a real person from BlueMountain.com emailed me back within a day. They couldn’t restore the list, but they walked me through how to check my sent history online, which solved my problem. It was a decent support experience, though I wish the app itself was a bit more stable around updates.
Security & Privacy
I downloaded the app directly from the Google Play Store. Their privacy policy is pretty standard for this type of app—they collect data on card views and obviously need your email and your recipients’ emails to function. I didn’t notice any creepy, off-topic ads within the app; the promotions were all for their own premium cards or related gift services. I feel comfortable using it, but as with any service, I wouldn’t input super-sensitive information into the personal message fields.
