About Obby: Disaster Survival

As someone who jumps between a lot of mobile games, I downloaded Obby: Disaster Survival on a whim. I was looking for something quick and social to play with my brother. What I found is a classic, fast-paced “obby” (obstacle course) game wrapped in a disaster movie theme. It’s not a deep survival sim, but a race against the clock—and collapsing buildings—which is honestly more my speed for a free mobile game.

Features & Highlights

The core loop is simple but effective. You pick a disaster map—like Zombie Outbreak or Mega Tsunami—and then you just run. The obstacles are the star here. I remember one volcano level where the floor tiles would light up and vanish a second after you stepped on them, forcing you to keep moving while dodging falling fireballs. The co-op mode is where it shines; I’ve had hilarious moments where my friend got knocked into lava by a swinging wrecking ball, and I had to finish the course solo to respawn them. The avatar customization is decent for a free game—I spent my first earned coins on a silly astronaut helmet—and the crafting is basic (mostly just clicking to build a small barrier), but it adds a tiny bit of strategy mid-chaos.

User Experience

Jumping into a game is instant, which I love. The controls are the standard virtual joystick and jump button, but they can feel a bit floaty sometimes, especially on precise platforming sections. I’ve definitely missed a jump because my character slid a little. The visuals are bright and cartoony, which fits the Roblox platform perfectly, and the sound of rumbling earthquakes or zombie groans does a good job of selling the theme. The biggest issue I’ve faced is occasional lag spikes in crowded multiplayer servers, which is a death sentence when you’re trying to outrun a tsunami wave. When it runs smoothly, though, it’s a blast for a 10-minute session.

Pricing

The game is completely free to download and play. The monetization comes from optional ads (you can watch one for a coin reward) and in-game purchases for special cosmetics or coin packs. I’ve never felt pressured to spend money. All the core maps and gameplay are accessible without paying a cent, and you can earn a fair amount of the cooler clothing just by playing. For a free game, it offers a lot of content without paywalls, which I appreciate.

Updates & Support

BloxCraft Game Studio seems to update the game every few months. Since I started playing, they’ve added one new disaster map (a blizzard theme) and a batch of seasonal cosmetic items. It’s not a constant stream, but it’s enough to bring me back to check out what’s new. I haven’t needed to contact support, but the in-game community is active on the message boards, and developers sometimes pop in to acknowledge bug reports, which is a good sign.

Security & Privacy

I downloaded it directly from the official Google Play Store. As a Roblox game, it operates under Roblox’s broader platform infrastructure and privacy policy. The game itself doesn’t feel intrusive. Yes, there are banner ads and optional video ads, but they’re standard for the genre. I didn’t notice any aggressive tracking pop-ups within the Obby experience itself, though standard platform-level data collection from Roblox would apply.
