About PhotoBoost – AI Photo Enhancer

I downloaded PhotoBoost out of pure desperation. My phone’s camera roll was full of decent-but-not-great shots—photos where the lighting was flat or my subject got lost in the background. I don’t have the patience for complicated editing apps, so I gave this free AI tool from Yoob AI a shot. Honestly, I just wanted my memories to look a bit more vibrant without spending an hour on each one.

Features & Highlights

The one-tap “Enhance” button is the star of the show. I tapped it on a gloomy landscape photo from a hike, and it instantly balanced the shadows and made the greens pop in a way that felt natural, not oversaturated. The background remover is shockingly good for a free tool; I used it to cut my dog out of a cluttered living room photo for a cute birthday post. The batch processing feature saved me when I wanted to quickly polish ten photos from a family dinner—selecting the “Vibrant” style and applying it to all of them took seconds. I also love the before/after slider; it’s satisfying to drag it back and forth and see exactly how much detail the AI pulled out of a dark corner.

User Experience

Opening the app for the first time, I wasn’t bombarded with complicated menus. The main screen just asks you to pick a photo. I remember specifically trying it on an old, slightly blurry picture of my niece. The AI sharpened her face just enough so she wasn’t a pixelated mess, but it didn’t make the image look artificially “crunchy.” The interface is straightforward: your editing tools are at the bottom, and your photo takes up most of the screen. I never had to hunt for a setting. The only minor hiccup was a slight delay when processing a very high-resolution image, but it was still under five seconds.

Pricing

The app is free to download and use for all the core features I mentioned. You’ll see ads, usually a banner at the bottom of the screen, but they’re not the intrusive, full-screen video ads that ruin the flow. There is a premium subscription that removes ads and unlocks some extra style packs, but for my needs—fixing lighting and colors quickly—the free version has been completely sufficient. I haven’t felt pressured to upgrade.

Updates & Support

I’ve had the app for a few months, and I’ve seen a couple of updates that added new filters and supposedly improved the AI model. The developer, Yoob AI, seems active. I had one question about saving images at full resolution and found a decent FAQ section within the app. I didn’t need to contact support directly, but the presence of recent updates is a good sign they’re maintaining it.

Security & Privacy

I downloaded PhotoBoost directly from the official Google Play Store. Its privacy policy states that photos are processed on their servers to apply the AI enhancements but are not stored permanently. For me, this is a fair trade-off for the processing power needed. I wouldn’t use it on highly sensitive documents, but for personal photos, I’m comfortable. The ads are clearly marked, and I haven’t noticed any weird permission requests beyond accessing my photo library, which is obviously necessary.
