About Power Spin Quest

As someone who tries a lot of mobile games, I downloaded Power Spin Quest out of curiosity about its “spin” gimmick. I wasn’t expecting much, but I’ve found myself coming back to it during my commute. It’s a free game from Mad Brain Games that mashes together match-3 style spinning with RPG character collection and light battling. It’s not going to redefine the genre, but it has a certain charm that makes it easy to pick up for a few quick rounds.

Features & Highlights

The core spin mechanic is genuinely the best part. Instead of swapping tiles, you spin a wheel of symbols to match 3 or more. It sounds simple, but it adds a layer of luck and quick thinking that I enjoyed. Matching sword symbols fuels your hero’s attack on the enemy at the top of the screen. I found myself developing little strategies, like saving my “Mega Spin” power-up for when a tough boss monster appeared.

The character roster is decent. I started with a fire knight but quickly unlocked an ice archer through gameplay. Each one has a different special ability that triggers when you match their specific symbol, which does change how you approach the spin board. The daily challenge is a reliable highlight for me—it’s a quick, focused puzzle with a guaranteed reward, which is perfect for a short break.

User Experience

Let’s talk about the good first: the game is visually loud in a fun way. The first time I triggered a chain reaction of matches and my hero unleashed a screen-filling special attack, it was a satisfying “heck yeah” moment. The music is forgettable but the sound effects for matching and attacking are crunchy and satisfying.

Now, the not-so-good. The energy system is aggressive. I hit a wall about 20 minutes into my first session where I ran out of spins and had to wait or pay. The ads are frequent and intrusive; after every third level, you’re hit with a 30-second video ad. There’s also a noticeable grind curve. Around world 3, I felt my progress slow to a crawl unless I started upgrading my characters heavily, which pushes you toward the in-game store.

Pricing

The game is free to download and you can technically play through all the core content without spending money, but you’ll need patience. The in-app purchases are for premium currency (crystals), energy refills, and special character packs. I never felt compelled to buy anything, but the game is designed to make you feel the pinch. Is it worth it? As a free time-waster, yes. I wouldn’t recommend spending money on it unless you’re *really* hooked, as the value doesn’t feel great.

Updates & Support

Looking at the update history on the store, Mad Brain Games pushes out a small content update every 4-6 weeks, usually adding a new character or a limited-time event. I participated in a “Frost Festival” event, which was just a reskin of the daily challenges with different rewards—fine, but not groundbreaking. I haven’t needed to contact support, but the community on their social media pages seems to report slow, copy-paste responses to technical issues.

Security & Privacy

I downloaded it directly from the Google Play Store. The app’s privacy policy, which I checked (as one does), says it collects gameplay data, device ID, and ad identifiers for targeted advertising. During setup, it asks for permission to track your activity across other apps—I declined this. The ads are definitely tailored, as I started seeing ads for other similar puzzle RPGs. If you’re privacy-conscious, you can play in airplane mode after loading a level to avoid some ad traffic, but features like multiplayer will be disabled.
